To Ease The Suffering
The groans of pain was something the small village had become accustomed to. It had been going on for several months now. The man behind the pain, lets just call him... Groaning Man, had developed an unknown pain that in the beginning had been tolerable. But as the time went on the pain had become more intense. He had been unable to move after several days and was bed ridden shortly after.
The pain had gotten so extreme that Groaning Man had began to call on Death to take him from it and make it all go away. The only reason he wasn't dead yet was because of his two sons. Both men, who had there own lives and families, wanted Groaning Man with them. They had lost there mother many years ago and wasn't ready to let their father go yet.
The Two Men had called upon many doctors to try and find a way to cure their father. All of them had failed but there was no way the Two Men were going to give up on their father.
That night was not the same as the previous. There was a strange calm in the air but at the same time a dark presence... Earlier in the evening a Child had returned from playing in the forest. The Child was silent, something that was against the young boy's character. The parents of the Child had not let this slip by.
At dinner that night the Child had told his parents a story.
As I was playing in the forest i came upon a man. The man stood in the distance like one of the many trees in the forest. I had almost missed him if it wasn't for the red... thin cloth he had around his neck. The man wore a long black trouser, a white shirt and a black jacket. I approached the man, calling out to him. He remained still and as I approached I could get a better look at this strange man. Ma, Pa...he had no face... well he had a face but no eyes or nose or even a mouth. I stopped, starting to get scared but then the man said to me "Don't worry"
He started walking, coming closer to me. It took him only several steps before he stood before me. And was he tall! I reached out to touch his leg. The trousers he wore was smooth. I looked up at him he seemed to smile even though he had no mouth. He bent down and placed his hand on my head... then he was gone.
The parents dismissed the story and sent the Child to his room.
As midnight rolled in, a light fog moved into the village and a tall figure appeared at the edge. This insanely tall man... this Slender Man remainder silent and still, observing the village almost like he was looking for something but wouldn't that be crazy for a man with no eyes. Maybe not as he started moving.
The Groaning Man turned from his side to lay on his back. He turned his gaze from the right to the left and nearly jumped at the sight of the being standing next to him. The Groaning Man became silent for the first time in a long time. The Slender Man lowered himself and placed his left hand on the Groaning Man's shoulder. "Its Time to go"
The groaning stopped immediately and the next day the Two Men found there father asleep soundly, his hands held together on his chest and a soft smile decorated his old lips. The Groaning Man was gone, taken from his pain so that he could finally get some peace.
End
