|| "Falling a thousand feet per second, you still take me by surprise, I just know we can't be over, I can see it in your eyes" ||
Technically Damon and Elena had never been together. They had shared a few moments. Moments that were carved into her memory. Moments she would never forget. But right now as she was wrapped up in his arms, she couldn't help but feel that connection. That feeling she had when she was with him. Feeling consumed. His eyes displayed all his emotions. Anger – Pain – Hope – Desperation – Love.
||"Making every kind of silence, takes a lot to realize..It's worse to finish than to start all over and never let it lie"||
Their eyes locked, silence surrounding them. Words weren't needed. It was as if they could tell each other what they were thinking without actually speaking out loud. Many would have called it gazing. Some others would have called it creepy. To them it was their way of communicating. Secret glances. The feeling to hold back. Not give in. Longing pushed away into a tiny box which was hidden in the shadows.
|| "And as long as I can feel you holding on, I won't fall, even if you said I was wrong"||
The music surrounded them, allowing them to bask in the intensity of the lyrics. It was ironic how perfect those lyrics were for them. As if it was written for them. Elena's hands were clenching at her sides. Her eyes turning misty. This shouldn't be happening. It was wrong.. Wrong yet so good. The intensity of his gaze became stronger, almost daring her to give in, to show him that she was holding on, that she couldn't ignore what was happening between them.
|| "I'm not perfect, but I keep trying 'cause that's what I said I would do from the start"||
He captured her hands in his, pulling her closer to him. One hand reached up to cup her cheek, coaxing her to look back up into his eyes. She shook her head ever so lightly because she knew that once she would look up, she'd see the sincerity in his eyes. The truth. The meaning of those lyrics. Once, years and years ago he had said he'd never leave her again. Ever. He had never given up despite the times she had pushed him away. 'Elena', he murmured. Again she shook her head. 'Elena, look at me.', he insisted, the tone of his voice rough, filled with deep emotions.
His finger curled under his chin, forcing her to look up at him. 'You want a love that consumes you', he had once said. She could remember it now. It scared her because if that was true, he might just be perfect for her. Before she could do anything -anything to push him away once again, anything to push those thoughts away- his lips silenced her. Gradually pressing harder against her lips, parting to capture her upper lip between his. It was as if he was coaxing her to finally give in. Her lips tingled, her chest falling and rising due to her erratic breathing. Giving in she eventually did, unaware of what the future had in store for her.
