A/N: Sorry. I might have OOC'd a bit. Or a lot. This is my second story and I'm still learning the ropes of FanFic.
My best friend, Sophie and I looked up at the cloudless sky. We were in my Mom's vineyard.
Her lustrous brown hair was in a tight braid while my thick, straw-like hair was laid out all around me. It was very windy. But the four foot tall vines shielded us.
"Mae, do you ever wonder about your Dad," Sophie asked? That was a subject we never discussed. We were best friends, but we never talked about our parents.
"I used to ask my Mom, but she never would give me a strait answer," I asked. When I was ten she told me he had died. I accepted it, but never really grown to fully believe it. Some part of me just didn't believe it.
We both had only one parent. She had no Mom d I had no Dad. All knew was my Dad left my mother when I was two years old. All my life I've tried to find things out about him, but I've never gotten very far. Sophie knew that. I just don't understand why she had to ask.
3 hours later:
Sophie and I went inside my Mother and I's small house overlooking the vineyard. I left a note on the fridge for my mother:
Mom, please don't worry, Sophie and I are going shopping... We'll be back in few hours.
Love,
Mae
Forty Minutes later:
We drove to the grocery store. Unlike most people, we have to drive nearly forty minutes to the grocery store. That's why we buy a lot of food all at once. I scanned my list:
2% Milk
Avocados
Pancake mix
Windex
Orange Juice
Sugar
Salt…
Suddenly, I saw a weird animal. It looked like an ugly dog. Except, I t was three times bigger. Out of nowhere it charged toward me. I dropped everything and ran away screaming. Very courageous of me, don't you think?
Sophie saw it charging at me. She stood in front of me and let the dog hit her. Except it didn't hit her. It went strait through her.
She screamed. But nothing happened until a grapevine appeared in my hand. It did a very stupid thing and threw it at the dog. Instead of bouncing off it wrapped around him. The dog yelped and faded into dust.
"What the HECK JUST HAPPENED," I asked?!!!?
"I don't know. How did you kill it?"
"I haven't the slightest idea."
We quickly ran in the car. We didn't take the groceries. No one seemed to notice what happened. So, as a result, we didn't buy their food.
The entire car ride was silent. We had no idea what happened. All I could think about was that grape vine appearing in my hand and how it wrapped around the gigantic dog.
