I wrote this one because Bel is one of my favorite characters from the manga/anime. Hope I got his personality right though. :P

Ka-BOOOOOOMMMM!

The huge explosion made the earth tremble and moan. I grimaced as I tried to keep my balance on the heaving ground. I fell to my knees and heard maniac laughing somewhere from in front of me. As I looked up, the ground finished its irregular movements and I was able to climb unsteadily to my feet. The laughing continued and I glanced around trying to locate the source of the noise.

About twenty yards in front of me, standing so that the tree line shadowed his face in darkness, stood a man. I couldn't make out his face, but a mad, full toothed grin appeared to be plastered to his face. It was obvious that this lunatic was enjoying the destruction and carnage taking place all around him.

I grimaced and dove behind a tree hoping that he hadn't noticed me. I had heard stories about the crazy prince of the Varia, but had never actually seen him. According to the rumors, he would kill anything just to get a rush. He was definitely worthy of being locked up in a mental hospital. I certainly didn't want to meet HIM on the battlefield. Hell, I didn't want to meet him in a sunny field of daisies and honey-colored grass. That was just how dead scared of him I was.

I clutched at the tree trunk and shimmied my way up into its branches, hoping that the fullness of the leaves would protect me from the eyes of the deadly prince. I held my breath as I heard the signature, 'Shi shi shi' coming closer and closer. Then he stopped right beneath the branch that I was perched on and slid a hand into his coat pocket. I swallowed involuntarily, sure that my life was quickly coming to an end.

Suddenly the moon came out from behind a cloud and illuminated the man underneath me. He wasn't as tall as I thought he would be, but the Cheshire grin that I imagined was indeed glued to his face. Blood was splattered on his Varia uniform and there was a peculiar tiara positioned on his golden head. His hair was positioned in such a way that it covered both of his eyes, then I saw something glint. He had pulled out an oddly shaped knife and began playing with it. He would twirl it in the air before catching it again. He spoke up with a silky smooth, yet teasing voice, "You shouldn't hide from the prince."

That's when something sharp pierced through my shoulder and I fell out of the tree with a squeal. I landed on the ground in heap of misplaced clothing, limbs, and blood. I grasped at my aching shoulder and gritted my teeth with pain.

"Shi shi shi shi," came a sickeningly sweet giggle. I looked up into the face of my assailant and watched as he bent down and roughly pulled the small throwing knife out my shoulder. I winced in agony and he merely laughed at me again. "You are a naughty girl, running and hiding from the prince when he only wants to paint you red," he giggled again.

I stared at him in horror, I could feel my eyes widen and my body tense up. This maniac prince was going to kill me, he was going to kill me! He towered over me, knife pointed at my throat. And then it was over. I didn't feel the sharp sting as the steel entered my body, nor the warm gush as blood ran down my chest. The only thing I felt was a coldness entering me and pulling me into oblivion. Nothing mattered anymore, my life was over and the last thing I saw was the mad prince bathed in blood and moonlight.
