The palace was burning. He didn't know why, but the palace was burning and he was searching for something. Or someone.
He was running down a familiar hallway. The same one he ran through while searching for someone else. But this time it was different. This time everything was blazing and the air was filled with thick black smoke and there was a lot more weighing on finding that someone than before.
He ran through a random door and found himself standing in the Agni kai arena. At the opposite end of the arena sat the waterbender, holding the Avatar in her arms like she had when Azula shot the Avatar down with lightning. She was using water from the oasis to heal the star shaped wound on his back. Suddenly, the glowing water began flowed away from the Avatar, towards his face.
The girl looked up, following the water's flow toward his face. " Zuko!" She yelled, no longer looking sad but instead very angry.
His face tingled for a second. He reached up and touched his face, only to feel smooth, unscarred skin. The Avatar began to glow brightly, then slowly faded away, disappearing from the physical world. Forever.
The girl was now on her feet. Angrily and with tear filled eyes, she yelled," This is your fault! Why do you always ruin everything?! Why can't you just let us live in peace?!" Then, she some how bent ice daggers out of thin air, and shot them straight at his chest.
Zuko sat bolt upright in bed, breathing heavily and shaking.
" Almost 17 and still having nightmares? Pathetic, Zuzu." Azula said, standing in his doorway. " Get up. There's been an Avatar sighting a few miles south of the city."
After Azula left, Zuko fell back onto his bed. It was just a dream. The Avatar was still alive. He still had a chance to make the right choice.
Author's note: Yeah... this popped into my head last night. Well, actually the first part of Azula's dialogue did, and then I wrote this around it... Yeah, not that great...
Disclaimer: No, I do not own any aspect of Avatar. If I did, Zuko wouldn't have been an idiot in the season finale.
