I HAVE A LIST OF VERY IMPORTANT THINGS:
1. This story is starting as a one shot, and it may turn into something more
2. I'm going to be updating Starting Over VERY soon. I decided to scrap the reviews rule, I like writing fanfic too much
3. I SO WISH THIS HAD HAPPENED ON GLEE
4. Enjoy and review!
Disclaimer: I own nothing except for things not seen on Glee!
"Finn, she'll be here any second, I promise!" Rachel grabbed her fiancé's hand pleadingly, trying to get him to see reason.
"Rach, we literally have five minutes or we lose our slot!" Finn said, exasperated.
"One more minute." Rachel said firmly, and stared at the clock to count.
One, two, three...
Fifty six, fifty seven, fifty eight-
"I'm here, I'm here!" Quinn ran into the room, appearance disheveled.
Rachel beamed at Finn and took his arm as he led her out of the room, fussing bridesmaids and the groomsmen following.
Reaching the door of the Justice of the Peace, Finn and Rachel shared one last tender look before walking in.
"Oh, hello... Can I help you?" The justice said, staring blankly at Rachel and Finn.
"Um, my name's Finn Hudson and I'm- oh, and this is my fiancée, Rachel. We're here for our wedding." Finn awkwardly explained, his word vomit getting the better of him.
"You're the wedding party for the Hudsons and the Berrys? Well then, will you all follow me?" The Justice of Peace led them to the front of the room. "It has the best lighting." She explained, and commenced with the hasty ceremony.
"Did you write your own vows?" The justice asked when it came to that part in the ceremony.
The couple nodded and pulled out their handwritten vows nervously. Naturally, they both had memorized them, but they needed something to take their nerves out on.
"Finn... The first time I saw you was first grade. You weren't in my kindergarten class, and I had no idea where you had come from, so I was curious about you. That's when I decided I would date you, no matter what. The first time I REALLY saw you was on our first day of sophomore year. You looked back at me as you walked by, and I felt... Important. Here, over two years later, I stand before you with all my love and affection. I told you I would date you. I'm forever yours, faithfully, no matter what comes our way." Rachel smiled up at Finn with glistening eyes. He put his hand on her cheek, rubbing his thumb across her smooth skin before starting his portion of the vows.
"Rachel... Telling me not to love you is like telling Fanny Brice not to live or fly or something like that. I once said that the show must go on all over the place. Or something. And I still say that today. Because we are the show. We're all over the place, but we always go on. Last year, Sue's sister, Jean, died. At her funeral, Mr. Schue read for Sue, and he talked about being tethered with someone. You could never love anyone else like you love your tether. Rachel, you are my tether. I'll never stop believing in you." There wasn't a dry eye in the courtroom when the vows were finished. Even Puck was crying!
Finn and Rachel claim they didn't remember anything after "I do." Nevertheless, the kiss that followed the "I do." was more timeless than 'The Kiss of the Century!' Even doubters like their parents and Kurt couldn't doubt that logic.
