Percabeth short story

The Proposal

This is set after HoH in BoO

Percy's POV

I started getting really nervous as my left hand wrapped around the small box in my pocket. Annabeth and I were walking hand in hand along the beach at Camp Half Blood. It was almost time for the sunset and I was freaking out. Yet it felt so good to be finally free of the plague of worry that went along with an earth goddess more powerful than Zeus wanting to kill you. Weirdly enough, even fighting a Titan wasn't as scary as what I was about to do. "So you wanted to ask me something seaweed brain?" Annabeth said, instantly making my heart kick into high gear.

"Yeah." I said, my voice coming out rough and weak. Man, I was nervous. I cleared my throat and tried again, this time I was more successful. "So, Annabeth?"

"Yes?" Annabeth answered warily, failing to call me seaweed brain because of the serious tone in my voice.

"I was wondering if…" I swallowed, trying to get my courage back. "Hold on, stop walking." Her eyebrows were scrunched together and her head was tilted to the side.

"What is it Percy?" she asked softly, encouraging me to continue. I swallowed again, trying to force the words out. I took her hands in mine, slowly getting down on one knee, my eyes never left her face. Man, she was beautiful. With her grey eyes reflecting the moonlight and her blonde hair being blown by the wind, Annabeth looked hotter than Aphrodite herself.

"Annabeth, will you marry me?" I said, my voice wobbly with the emotions swirling inside me. I heard her gasp, an adorable sound that made my heart skip a beat. I could see the tears welling up in her eyes. The ring was silver with a blue sapphire with "as long as we're together" engraved on the inside.

"Oh Percy…" she murmured, the tears beginning to roll down her cheeks. She dropped down to her knees and gushed. "Of course I will Percy! I love you so much! Yes! Yes! YES!" She grabbed my face and kiss me. She tasted like sea salt and I could feel myself melting.

Annabeth's POV

Oh my gosh! This was really happening! My heart soared as I kissed Percy, forgetting everything else but him. My lips trembled as I kissed him, effectively ruining the moment. Percy pulled back as the fat tears kept falling persistently. "I'm sorry!" I said trying to wipe my nose with my sleeve. "Just give me a sec, please?" I said, trying rein my emotions. I took some deep breaths and started hiccupping "Great." I mumbled.

"Actually I think it's kind of cute." Percy said softly, his eyes smoldering with emotion. I pulled Percy towards me, finally in control of the waterworks. Nothing could compare to the feeling I felt as Percy kissed me. All the joy and sorrow was there, in that very kiss, in this very moment. His lips were unbearably sweet and his arms were unbelievably comfortable. We began to kiss more passionately and Percy fell in the sand.

"Sorry! You ok?" I said, embarrassed.

"I'm fine." Percy said, his eyes twinkling. It started to register in my mind that I was on top of Percy who had just proposed! My heart started to sound like it was doing a tap dance. I was teetering on the edge of sanity as I looked into his beautiful sea green eyes. "I love you…" Percy said, his voice rough with emotion.

"I love you too." With barely enough energy to call it a whisper. Man I was in Elysium! It finally crossed my mind that it was getting cold, and fast. Holy crap! The sun had already set! My teeth started to chatter and Percy gently got up, pulling me with him.
"Let's get you someplace warm." Percy said holding me close to him.

"Ok" I said as we headed toward camp.
