Percy was sitting under Thalia's tree feeling sorry for himself. He had just kissed Annabeth under the lake and now she seemed to be avoiding him. He longed to look into her deep gray eyes and have everything be okay between them. Sitting up, he walked over to the Athena cabin, hoping to smooth things out. He knocked on the door and saw Malcolm. He asked if Annabeth was there. Malcom went into the cabin. Percy heard whispering and soon Malcolm came back. "She's not here," he said. "Okay, " I said, unconvinced. Maybe she is by the lake. He went to check, but didn't see Annabeth.
Three Hours later
Percy sat by the lake, a frown on his tanned face. He wanted to know why Annabeth was so upset and avoiding him. He heard someone sit down next to him. "Hey Seaweed Brain," she said. "Wise girl," he said, his face lighting up. "Annabeth, what happened at the lake," he started to say. He was interrupted by her, "Percy I have been avoiding you because I don't know what to think." He began to stand up. "Annabeth, I'm sorry I didn't want things to become awkward between us, if you want to go back to just being friends I completely understand," he told her. She began to smile. "Actually, I've been thinking," she said slyly. Then she pulled him closer and kissed him softly. They pulled back cheeks flushed. Then Percy leaned in and pushed his lips against her passionately. They stayed like that for a minute, but they both needed to breathe.
Percy walked Annabeth back to his cabin. "Annabeth, I love you," he told her. They began to kiss more going inside the cabin so nobody saw them. His hands in her hair, her arms wrapped around his back. They needed each other and both had been miserable without each other, even if it was just a day. They pulled back, cheeks flushed and lips swollen. They lay down next to each other and fell asleep just holding on to each other. That was how Thalia found them in the morning when she came looking for him. She got really embarrassed to see them sleeping next to each other.
Thalia gently shook Annabeth awake. When Annabeth realized where she was, her cheeks became very flushed. "Did you have fun last night?" Thalia asked, teasingly. "It wasn't like that," Annabeth said suddenly very embarrassed. They shook Percy awake. He groggily sat up and he too became very embarrassed. Thalia was just playing with them though. She knew they were both very responsible, or at least Annabeth.
After Thalia left they went to change with Annabeth going into the bathroom. She came out with her curly blond hair pulled back into a neat ponytail. Percy watched her as she left.
