I thought of this idea while reading another fic where Cloud, Prompto and Roxas were adopted brothers living on Cid's ranch. I thought it would be cool to explore an AU where Cloud or Prompto had a preexisting connection with Ventus/Roxas. It could make for some fun interactions and new wrinkles to the story.
My original idea was to have Ventus be an older Denzel who discovered he can wield the keyblade and that lead to him being trained by Xehanort and things progressed….
I chose Ventus because he doesn't recall where he came from before he was trained by Xehanort so the discovery of who he was would shake him up. You could retcon Denzel's appearance to look more like Ventus or if you want Xehanort to work some magic and change his appearance.
