A/N: Thanks to my mom, who inspired the first line and the entire oneshot. Its been a while since I've posted anything, but hopefully I'll start again. Begin:
"Reid," Morgan spoke up, successfully cutting off Reid's long, rambling explanation of why he couldn't ask the girl out, "You are the stupidest smart person I know. Just ask her out."
"What?" Reid asked the question as if the thought alone was illogical and destined to fail, "What if she turns me down?"
"She won't," Morgan replied. To him, it was almost like a script. Except the guy with the average memory remembered it almost line for line, and the guy with the eidetic memory had no clue that they'd had this conversation numerous times. And Morgan wasn't even exaggerating. Every time they came to a bar, which was becoming more and more common, Reid had this dilemma.
"What if I freeze up, like last time?"
Morgan groaned internally at the mention of what happened "last time". Morgan had convinced Reid to go up to a girl and start a conversation, and the whole thing ended in disaster. Reid stuttered uncontrollably with nervousness and eventually ran away. Morgan wasn't exaggerating this either. Reid literally, without a doubt, ran away.
It was a wonder that Reid had even brought up the fact that he wanteed to talk to this girl, considering what happened "last time". Then again, they had both been drunk, so maybe the alcohol caused Reid's stuttering/slurring. Maybe the alcohol made Morgan's mind think the incident was more extreme then it was. Or maybe Reid just didn't remember it very clearly. Whatever the case was, Morgan wasn't going to let Reid back out of this.
"Remember the magic trick you used on that girl back in Georgia?" Hopefully, a reminder of past success would help boost Reid's confidence.
"Her name was Austin," Reid pointed out immediately. Then a look of realization crossed his face, "Oh! I should use magic tricks."
"Yes, you should. Now go before I go over there and-"
"You wouldn't," Reid hissed, then scampered off when he figured out that Morgan actually intended to follow through on his threat.
Morgan couldn;t help but smile as he watched Reid timidly approach her. It was good to see that he wasn't "freezing up" yet like Reid thought he would.
Instead, the woman and Reid were both smiling. Obviously, the magic trick had worked. It was then that Morgan decided to leave; Reid would be okay without him.
The next day, Reid walked into work with what looked a permanently dazed expression, something that told Morgan that Reid had a very good night after all.
