Charles shook his head in mock annoyance.
"Now Lucie," he said in mock sternness, "what were you thinking going into town at that hour?"
"I'm sorry darling," Lucie said, "I had a craving"
"Yes well… it's alright… but it will require some… sort of chastisement so you cannot hold the baby for a week after his or her birth"
Charles did not mean that. He was just trying to make a point that she shouldn't go into town during the night. There were bad people in there. He loved her and did not want any harm to come to her.
"Just for a craving," Lucie said tears pooling in her eyes, "Charles that is hardly fair. It's not even fair to the baby. The baby needs-"
Sydney put a calming hand on her shoulder as he turned to Charles.
"Come now Charles," Sydney said, "It is a onetime offense. I don't think chastisement is needed here."
"Perhaps you're right," Charles said, "I retract my former statement"
