Ariel's Voice Over:
"Welcome to Los Angeles, the city of Angels. Right, like anything about this places is even remotely heavenly. It's more like the city of all things that go bump in the night. I'm Ariel McHugh, a junior at UCLA. You can say I'm average but sometimes things that look perfect on the surface can hide many things beneath"
Anonymous Chant:
"Birds flee from trees to sky,
Dogs howling near by,
Car alarms sound in distant lots
As cracks ripple from beneath the grounds
To the surface of the student lounge.
Little by little as momentum grows.
Students and staff panicking shove each other to the ground,
From dorms to cafeteria to class rooms bound,
Making their way out as all hell breaks loose."
Ariel pushed against the wall is distracted by a cry for help, looking around she spots Sydney trapped under an overturned potted plant. Pushing her way against the anxious crowd running to safety, she emerges to Syd's side "It's going to be alright, I'll get you out some how." Syd calming down looks up giving her a smirk "You better." Soon enough Ariel realized budging the plant only made matters worse. Syd in agony tears up "I don't think I'm going to make it McHugh." Ariel quickly trying to think up another way "Don't think that. We'll make it, together." Syd trying to forget about the pain spaces on the exit "We are so close to seeing another day." taking this moment of advantage Ariel quickly shocks the trunk wilting it to leafless log with a bolt of electricity threw her hands, feeling a tinge Syd is struck back to reality "Come on lets go." Ariel not giving her a moment to ask questions of what just happened grabs her hand helping her to her feet. Thrusting Syd's arm over her shoulder they begin to stumble closer to the exit. Suddenly out of nowhere a piece of ceiling title falls loose smashing onto Ariel's left ankle sending both of them forward to the ground "Son of a bitch!" Ariel shouts. Looking at the exit she realizes there was no possible way both of them could make it out now "Syd, look at me. Can you walk?" pushing herself from the ground "Sort of, but it'll hurt like heck." Ariel trying to give the rest of her energy to help "I want you to save yourself. We can't both make it out, but you can. Just promise me you'll tell my mom I died doing what I love." Syd on her feet looks down "I promise I will" Ariel giving a tearful chuckle "You better ... not." watching Syd limpping to the exit she quietly shouts "You're almost there! you can do it." debris from the ceiling begins to fall heavily causing a dust cloud to cover Ariel's view as the structure beam above the exit collapses. "Syd!" Ariel begins to feel the ground crumble from beneath her, closing her eyes she takes a deep breath as tears runs down her cheek.
