And the third one-shot is a… Zelink! Yay! Something I'm actually familiar with.
So uh… Enjoy! ^_^
It was dark… It was silent… But it wasn't cold, just empty.
I don't know where I am… That scares me more than anything else so far. Even more than when Zant thrust the choice of life and death upon me. Even more than when I realized what my choice meant.
I thought I knew what it meant to give my life to Midna. Obviously, I was wrong… I don't know if I would have made the same choice if I'd known…
It was so dark and lonely… I wanted to get out of there! I wanted… I wanted company…
I shook. No, I should stop thinking about what I wanted. It would be nice to know if anyone thought about me, though…
"What's with the long face?"
I blinked. That was definitely Midna's voice…
"… I'm just not too happy, I suppose."
A man's voice? It sounded like it ought to be familiar…
Suddenly, a vision sprang up before my eyes, blinding me quite effectively. A man in green with blonde hair and blue eyes… Link? The wolf?!
Damn, he looked good as a human…
"Well, what's the problem?" Midna asked, a note of impatience in her voice.
Link sighed and pulled of his hand to ruffle his hair. "Zelda." he answered shortly, poking to the fire with a stick.
A disappointed sound preceded the vision of Link shaking, and I realized I was watching through Midna's eyes. "What's wrong with the darling princess?"
"I feel sorry for her." Link answered, a pained expression crossing his face. "She doesn't deserve this…"
"And we do?"'
"Well, you are one very annoying imp." Link replied with a smirk. It faltered and turned to a frown shortly after, though. "No, I don't suppose we deserved it anymore than she did. But I had more of a choice, really. I mean, I could have walked right out of it after I'd regained my human form and told Faron to get somebody else to do the dirty work. Or after I'd saved the village kids…" Link shrugged.
"And me?" Midna asked, moving a little about.
"You could just have said 'Screw the Light World, twilight is much better anyway.'" Link replied, chuckling weakly.
"And my usurped throne?"
"I'm sure you could have started a revolution or something. No, we had more choice. The one we went with in the end was probably the best choice, but we had other options. Zelda had two options: Let everyone die or surrender." Link sighed and shook his head, stirring the fire again… He looked beaten. "Those aren't choices." he mumbled bitterly.
I smiled bitterly. I had wished for thoughts, but got so much sympathy… More than I deserved, probably.
"Midna?" Link asked, effectively catching my attention. "Do you think we can save her?"
"Yeah… I think we can."
The vision dimmed, disappeared. I leant my head back and felt a wall support it… I had hope.
A tear ambled slowly down my cheek, meeting with the smiling corner of my mouth. I wiped it away and sniffed, it had tickled horribly.
I don't really have anything to say… Please review. =)
