Dusty took off from Propwash junction. After becoming a firefighter, he found himself in the air all the time. But the thing is, he doesn't know why. Skipper told him that he needs to stop being so dismissive, the big race was coming up soon. But ever since the accident that left him unconscious for 5 days, he can't keep a clear mind. Then he realized that a plane was coming at him. It wasn't any plane. It was Ripslinger.
"Long time no see, crop-duster!" Rip teased and came up beside him.
"What do you want, Ripslinger?" Dusty narrowed his eyes at the older racer.
"Revenge!" He held back, then flew up fast behind Dusty and rammed him in the tail. The jolt shook Dusty and forced him to turn around so if he did crash, it was where someone could find him. Then Rip came up next to him, and rammed his wing. Dusty looked at his dashboard, then at his wing. Then, he hit the ground.
Over at Propwash junction, Skipper was just waking up. He decided to check in with Dusty to see if he was ready to fly over to Piston Peak, and say hi to their friends. But when he pulled up to Dusty's garage, he wasn't there. Then he went to the repair shop. He wasn't there either. Finally he called the tower.
"Skipper to Propwash tower, come in Cropwash tower." He called. "Propwash tower here." He closed his eyes. "Has Dusty flown out today?" He asked.
"Dusty flew out 3 hours ago, saying that he was going to run the usual routine." The tower informed him. "Clear for take off?" Skipper asked, hoping that nothing bad came to the rookie.
"Clear for takeoff." The Tower responded. He rushed down the runway, and then took off. He smiled, enjoying the feeling. Then remembered exactly what he was supposed to do.
After 20 long minutes, he saw smoke. He was about to call in to report a fire, when he got a call. "S-kip?" A horse voice asked. "Kid!" He shot back. Then he tuned into Cropwash Tower.
"Skipper to Propwash tower, do you read me?" He called hurriedly circling the young plane.
"Yes Skipper we read you. Have you found Dusty?" They asked.
"Yes and he has crashed." He told them the coordinates and waited for the other plane to arrive. When it did. It took all he had for him not to look at the kid. But when he did, he wished he hadn't. He looked worse than when he crashed in the pacific.
It had been 1 week since he had found Dusty. Dottie was able to fix him up, and add a few racing parts, but he said he's in shock. But this particular day, Lightning McQueen is coming to visit him.
So that's how Skipper came to be sitting in the repair garage with Lightning and Doc. "S-kip?" A voice asked.
Skipper's eyes went wide along with everyone else's. Skipper rushed over to Dusty's side. "I'm right here Dusty." He said quietly. "How long have I been out?" The young racer asked.
"A week, and we have some visitors." Skipper told him. Dusty then became fully awake. McQueen came in front of him. "Hey Dusty, long time no see eh?" The race car asked. "Lightning!" Dusty shouted and rolled over to his old best friend.
"Has the race world treating ya?" Dusty asked. Lightning smiled. "Just won my second Piston cup!" Lightning bragged. "But the real question is, what happened?" Dusty's face suddenly darkened. "Rip." He mumbled. Skipper's engines flared. "Rip happened."
