Author's note! This is based preshow. Okay, I've only gotten to episode 18 of Durarara! (not X2) so I have yet to officially see Kasuka more than glimpses. So, I apologize if he's a bit OOC.

The eighteen-year-old, face unreadable, stared down at a small, plain, rectangular box in his hands. It was for his older brother's twentieth birthday. He said he had 'something' he had to do and that he'd be back soon. Kasuka suspected that it might have to do with Izaya, who was the first person who'd ever (and always did) irk Shizuo without even saying a word. Kasuka hoped that his older brother could spend his birthday without getting into a fight or getting injured. Though, this Izaya seemed more powerful than anyone else Shizuo had fought. Kasuka had been able to pick up this information from all of the times Shizuo ranted about him. Oh well, it was still fairly early, he could still spend the rest of his birthday in peace with his younger brother.

Hearing the sound of the door opening, Kasuka hid the box in his coat pocket. Shizuo, almost stomping, walked inside, grumbling to himself.

"Big Brother?" Kasuka asked.

The anger dwelling in Shizuo died down significantly at the sight of his younger brother.

"Sorry I took so long." Shizuo apologized, taking a seat next to Kasuka.

"It's alright." Kasuka replied, producing the small box. "I got you this, for your birthday."

Shizuo grinned warmly.

"Thanks." Taking the box from Kasuka, Shizuo pulled the top off. Inside laid a single pair of square-shaped sunglasses with blue lenses. Shizuo grinned as he picked them up carefully and put them on.

"They're awesome, thanks Kasuka." He smiled, gently ruffling Kasuka's hair. Kasuka smiled a bit, pleased as Shizuo then stood and walked off, presumably to see them in a mirror.

"Can you see?" Kasuka wondered.

"Don't worry, I can see just fine." Shizuo assured.

"Please don't wear those indoors."

Shizuo stopped and turned around.

"Why not?"

"Because people will look at you weirdly and you'll get mad, starting unnecessary fights."

"Okay, I won't do it."

With that resolved, Shizuo left the room and returned a few seconds later.

"So Kasuka, what do you want to do now?" Shizuo asked, leaving the decision to him as he thought about his new shades. If only he knew that these would be a cause of dispute when Izaya 'comments' on how attached to them he is.
