Hopeful

Disclaimer: I do not own Avatar: The Last Airbender, or any of its characters. Very true, and very sad.
Summary: A oneshot concerning Longshot and Smellerbee. This is from Longshot's point of view, and it takes place during Journey to Ba Sing Se: The Serpent's Pass. My first oneshot/story.
I quickly followed Smellerbee, catching her by the shoulder and pulling her to a stop. I looked sternly into her eyes, speaking to her as I'd always done: with my own eyes.
She looked away for a moment, and my look softened. When she spoke, it took me by surprise, something that I didn't often have to worry about when I was with her. I know. "You're right. As long as I'm confident with who I am, it doesn't matter what other people think. Thanks Longshot."
I nodded my approval and draped my arm around her, pulling her off to the railings to leave Jet alone to talk to Lee and his uncle. As the swift breeze pulled her scraggly hair around her face, I couldn't help but think of what I'd try telling her these past few weeks. I'd been hopeful that she would finally understand. Maybe it was hard to understand me. I was only the silent archer, the one who couldn't help but stare at the beautiful girl before me.
It didn't matter that she looked like a boy. In my eyes, she looked like an amazing girl who would always fight like a warrior, and dress like a male, but would be the girl she was on the inside.
I was hopeful though, that she might finally hear my words.
'I love you.'
Author's Notes:: Read and Review Please. Constructive criticism and such appreciated. I just had to write a Smellershot oneshot. (kind of a tongue twister right there, eh?) Anyways, enjoy.
