Secret Meetings
This is a story about two young people. They are my best friends. I have known them both since forever and I'll know them for even longer. I spend much time with both of them, however there is something that I found strange. I never saw them speak to one another beyond polite pleasantries. All they have exchanged are small smiles and meaningless phrases. I thought that maybe they didn't feel comfortable together. But how could that be? They have known each other ever since they were young children. Maybe it was because they did not like one another, but they never had a fight before. I was torn. I didn't understand the way they acted. They were like two lone islands in a vast sea with no bridge in between. I was convinced that they would never get along. I really was, until one day.

Spring had come and with it, so had life. The grass grew green and the flowers blossomed with a wealth of colours. The air was fresh with rain and the skies were void of any offending clouds. Birds flew overhead as their harmonious songs floated through the atmosphere.
There was a small lake that was hidden in the forest, not too far from the village. It reflected the sun's rays and cast them off again in bright, sparkling gleams. Sitting by the edge of the water was a young girl.
She was quite the beauty. Her long white dress spread out around her and fair auburn locks framed her delicate face. The girl's rose-coloured lips were drawn in a slight frown. Her eyes, a startling emerald, looked out across the shining mirror. She seemed as if she was waiting, but the reason was unknown. The lovely female sighed as she leaned back, enjoying the wonderful day.
Behind her stood a man, supported against the side of a tree. He was tall, handsome, and probably a few years older than her. He stayed silent, not making his presence known to the girl. He watched her, his amber eyes bearing into the vision before him. He seemed afraid to look away, as if the image would disappear if he dared to blink. He smiled to himself.
Slowly, he made his stealth way over to where she sat. He grasped her shoulders and she took a deep intake of breath. He had surprised her. Laughing, he took a seat on the grass beside her. She looked up at his face and smiled. Holding hands, she leaned over and rested her head on his shoulder.
They began conversation, talking about anything and everything. This is how the spent the rest of their day, hidden among the trees. It was a flawless time.

I was surprised when I saw this unfolding before my eyes. I almost didn't believe this bizarre occurrence, but I had covertly found them together on other days. I had to concur that it was true. My friends were talking together. They liked each other. No, it was more than that.
There was only one thing left for me to wonder about. Why didn't they tell me? Why did they hide their feelings from the world. After much thought, I figured it out. Alone, at their private lake, there was nobody but them. There were no complications of the real world, no meddlers, no condescending thoughts. It was kept as something simply shared only between them, a true relationship amid two souls. I was overjoyed at their secret friendship.
I know this was really short, but it's ok. Please give me a review.
