Laws of Attraction

Is it opposites that attract or is it birds of feather? Maggie remembered learning the answer to this question in that one social psychology class she audited, but could not remember it. At the time she had deemed the answer unimportant, she had just wanted to know why the guys she was attracted too, were always no good. Now, as she desperately tried to understand why she had slept with Senator Rawlings and why she felt so guilty for the article she had written about him, even if most of it had been the truth.

Maggie tests both theories in her head, reminding herself that they do indeed have similarities. Both of them were political, passionate, and driven. Yet their differences were political. While, Maggie enjoyed their lively debates and the angry-sex that followed before calling a truce. She wondered how long it would last. While, she never really dreamed of the white picket fence dream like other women did, always viewing it as a trap. She did not want to get her heartbroken. Again.

She looks over at Chris while he is sleeping and tries to shut off the debate in her head. She tells herself to stop thinking and to start living. She will take it one day at a time. Enjoy whatever they have for however long it lasts. Despite their differences he makes her smile and she makes him laugh. They both know that is simply to good to pass up.

"Maggie," he whispers groggily, his face on the pillow. "I can hear you thinking,"

"I'm just jetlagged," she lies not wanting to reveal the silly thoughts swirling around her head. Chris sits up in the bed, stifling a yawn.

"Let me help you with that," he replies, with a smirk that only means one thing.

As he places soft kisses on her neck, while his hands move up her thighs. She remembers the answer to the question.

It is both.
