"Julia...is dead." Spike said, as the cool night air whipped his hair. He stared up at Vicious, the hilt of the katana still warm from Vicious' hands.
"Let's finish it now..." He added, all the while never breaking his gaze. The cold blue eyes bored into him with unnerving confidence. "As you wish..."
The seconds turn into hours as Spike waited for the first sign of movement from his once best friend. They both knew what was to come, it was inevitable. During the agonizing wait he said his final good-byes to both Jet and Faye. All the while wondering what they were up to...
After what seemed and eternity he saw Vicious begin to move his leg to kick the gun into the air. His time was over. He slid the katana away from him waiting for his gun. He quickly picked it up just in time to see Vicious dragging the katana on the ground causing a trail of sparks to fly up.
At first he didn't realize what had happened, he had seen the look on Vicious' face when he shot him. Blood splattering everywhere. It all seemed like slow motion as Vicious slowly fell to the floor.
It was in this moment when he realized that he was not unscathed. His abdomen was sliced deeply. It was over.
Julia's last words echoed in his mind... "It's all a...dream." He heard his reply rather than said it, "Yeah, just a dream..."
He held his stomach tight, half trying, but failing miserably to stop the bleeding. He slowly sauntered down one step at a time. He could see the light at the end of the tunnel. There she was, his Julia, waiting for him at the end. When he got to the middle of the stairs he stopped and looked up, seeing all the remaining Red Dragon members, confused and unable to grasp what had just occurred.
He lifted his right arm and whispered, more to himself than anybody, "Bang..." And he collapsed. He was finally free....
