A one-shot to help me get over that finale.
Regina fled the diner, as she had fled the tavern that held her soul mate all those years ago. She walked alone and silent except for the occasional sob that left her lips. Tears fell down her face continuously. All she wanted to do was burn everything to the ground, the whole town. Her anger, her pain were the only things she could see or feel. She took the long route home, maybe walking would calm her down before she had to go inside. She was shaking with rage and fear. Just an hour ago everything had been right with the world. Henry was back, she had Robin and Roland in her life. She had found peace with Snow and Charming, she had been part of their family. How could she be now? Now that Emma had destroyed her life, her love, just as her mother had done before her. Regina couldn't see a point. To any of it. She had moved on, grown as a person, she had been a hero. But deep down she was still a villain and still being punished for her actions. Nothing she could do would ever make it better. "I will always be a villain." Regina whispered to herself into the night. She had reached the beach, the water was so calm. So inviting. Regina shook her head. She couldn't leave Henry. He was still the only thing she had. But he still had another family. Henry didn't need her, not as she needed him. Regina sat on a bench, looking out to sea. She closed her eyes and listened to the waves for a few moments. But she couldn't forget the look on Robin's face when he had seen his long lost wife. She stood up and continued home. She needed a drink, perhaps that would sooth her.
When she reached her front door there was already someone waiting there. Regina recognised the figure at once. "Henry, what are you doing here?"
"I couldn't find you. Emma told me what happened, I came straight here. I thought this was the first place you would come."
"I went for a walk." Regina looked at her feet, trying to stop the tears building up in her eyes. Henry ran to her and wrapped his arms around her waist. Regina almost stumbled backwards, she looked down at her son, the light in her life. She wrapped her own arms around him and kissed him lightly on the top of his head. She could no longer control her tears. Henry looked up at his mother.
"I'm sorry." He said softly and snuggled his face into her neck "I know how much he meant to you."
"No one could ever mean as much to me as you do." They stayed wrapped in each others arms for a few moments before Regina pulled away and stroked her son's cheeks. "How about we go inside and make some hot chocolate, with whipped cream and cinnamon on top, just how you like it."
"You haven't made me hot chocolate in ages." Henry exclaimed.
"Exactly." Regina managed to smile at her son as she led him into their home.
