A/N: Guys, if you're worried, I'm not stopping Red Rose Alchemist. This was just based on this one time I had a nightmare and I sang myself to sleep. Don't worry, I'll be back to updating more chapters later.

Ed's lullaby

July 1899 Risembool, Amestris

Trisha Elric was just going to bed. She usually slept alone, for her husband, an alchemist was always locked up in his study room. He rarely got out of that room, although she wanted him to.

She wasn't angry at him for not spending enough time with her. They never really even got married anyway, but she knew that what he was doing was very important and she could not interfere. She was just settling down into her comfortable, cozy bed until she heard a piercing scream.

It was her baby boy, Edward. He was always so fussy, but she didn't mind. Trisha speedwalked across the hallway into the nursery, where her little baby was laid.

"Shhh, shhh... Don't cry Ed, Mommy is here, shhhh.."

She picked her five month old child and started to rock him. When Edward was born, things didn't go so well for him. He was a month too early, and many people said he wouldn't make it. Those people were wrong. Edward made it alive, and Trisha was happy.

"Please don't cry Edward..." she begged, but the baby kept wailing.

All of a sudden, she started to hum a song, soft and sweet.

Sleep, my child

And listen to my voice

For I will put you to rest

Sleep, my child

And let you dreams take you

For when dawn comes

You'll smile for me

Ed's crying started to stop, and his eyes started to widen. Now that she had a better look at him, Trisha thought little Ed looked like his father. Golden eyes, and hair to match. Gold, like the sun that shone above her and gave her warmth.

Sleep, my child

And let the flowers comfort you

Let them dance to the song of the winds

Sleep, my child

The stars shining above

And the moon watch your sleeping face

The baby cooed and closed his eyes, breathing starting to get more even. He cuddled close to her. His tiny hands holding her finger. She closed her eyes, wishing that good would happen to him...

15 years later...

Edward Elric could not sleep. Sure he had battled insomnia before, but this was nothing.

This is what Al feels all the time...

He tried closing his eyes, but even that didn't work. Ed kept tossing and turning in bed. Sleep would not come.

Then he suddenly thought of something. Mom's lullabye. He started humming the tune of the song. It was as if he could hear her singing to him.

Sleep, my child

Make them listen to your voice

You have suffered

But please smile for me

Ed started to smile. He was starting to get tired now.

Sleep, my child

And let the flames watch over you

Let them give their light

And let them guide your way*

A wave of sleepiness washed over Ed. The lullaby was taking him to his dreams. He felt better. The lullaby gave him comfort. At last, he came to the last verse.

Sleep, my man

Although I'm no longer here

I'll still watch you

My little baby

Then the tears came, but Edward cried softly so Alphonse wouldn't hear. He was glad that his mother was still there, watching over him. His tear-filled eyes started to close, and finally let sleep take him.

Mommy, I love you...

A/N I hope you guys liked it!
