The Wedding

A/N: Although this is the prequel to Memorial Day, it is also a sequel of sorts. You really need to read the first to get this one, or it will ruin the surprise.

Six months after their first date, Sofia had taken Catherine to the exact spot where they had their first kiss. Hiking to the top of Fortification Hill at sunset, overlooking Lake Mead the detective had dropped to her knee in front of the red headed csi and popped the question. Six months later, a year to the day of their first date, the wedding was on. Catherine immediately went into decision making mode, the colors: lavender and black, the reception: the Monte Carlo, the honeymoon: Hawaii.

On the day of the ceremony everyone gathered on top of the same hill Sofia had popped the question on. Most of the guests were co-workers from both the lab and the precinct. The chairs were arranged, and a large canopy blocked the bride from everyone's view. Grissom stood at the front under the arch Sofia, Nick, and Lindsey had been working on behind Cath's back for almost three months.

As Sofia walked in from behind the curtain to the side with Brass on her arm, softly in the wind you could hear Aerosmith's Don't Want to Miss a Thing. Coming to stand behind the woman dressed in her motorcycle boots, dark jeans, lavender dress shirt, and her black leather jacket; Nick, the best man, and Greg looked rather good in their dark jeans and black shirts.

As Lost in Your Eyes started to play everyone looked down the aisle to see Lindsey, the maid of honor, and Sara come down in simple black dresses with silk shawls around their shoulders to ward off the cool evening breeze. Then the music switched and everybody stood as From This Moment drifted in and watched as Catherine started down the aisle in her custom lavender gown, low cut yet tastefully done, with Warrick escorting her.

As the weeding started, Brass and Warrick gave the two women away and took their seats in the front row where each woman's father would have been. Watching Sofia shake, and Catherine cry it was one of the sweetest things anyone there had seen. Lindsey just smiled knowing at last her mother would be happy. When Sofia finally got the chance to kiss her bride it was enough to make even Greg blush.

With their new platinum wedding bands on their fingers the couple danced close together all through the reception and after cutting the cake, Catherine put her plan into place. Walking up to Warrick she told him the plan, then dragged Sofia to the elevator taking her to the top floor.

Walking to the door only one thing was said, "Were you really going to wait till tomorrow to make love to me for the first time as your wife?" After that the door slammed shut as the newlyweds enjoyed their first night as a married couple.

The next morning they left for Hawaii, leaving Lindsey with Warrick and Waya, their German Sheppard, with Nick. For the next week nothing mattered except the two of them. It was definitely going to be hard to readjust when they got back home.
