What would he do?
This was the only thought that went through his head as he watched her black coffin get lowered into the pit.
What would he do?
When the clouds began to form he was positive that he was the cause of the rain.
What would he do?
He knew that death was not the end, and where she would go. Compared to this life, she would live in a literal heaven. He felt it almost selfish of him to want her back.
What would he do?
While everyone put up their umbrellas to stay dry, he couldn't find the energy.
What would he do?
To move, to think, to even breath, this was all hard enough much less look every family member she had in the eye and say:
"I am sorry"
What would he do?
As the raindrops fell and they seemed to slide off of the air around him as if he was stuck in a bubble.
What would he do?
"Perseus?" The feminine voice asked as it's carrier rapped on the door made of driftwood. The goddess Hecate needed a favor. She needed a man of power. One who could make the selfless choices, and of course a good fighter.
Percy groaned, he had been preparing for this mission for quite some time. Saying his goodbyes and packing up. But he hated the fact that he couldn't do anything about it.
The only reason he chose to do it was it was because it was what she would have wanted him to do.
He opened the door and wordlessly walked out.
Into the new and dangerous world of education.
Magical education.
Not that this was anything new to him. He had been studying magic inside his cabin for the past few weeks in preparation for this mission. It was amazing not only how fast he was able to grasp the concepts and catch up to a wizard many times his age. That meaning he could non verbally think about a spell and it's affect would appear in his hands.
He could throw the spell or simply wish for it fly to a certain location. He truly possessed a power over wandless magic. But maybe that was because he didn't know wand using magic was a thing until Hecate gave him a wand. Which was conveniently after he mastered wandless magic. Apparently he was only supposed to have studied the "theory" and memorized the technique, like that would ever teach anybody.
So now he had a wand just sitting in a drawer being useless.
"It's time to go!" Hecate said,
"Why, I have studied all there is to magic there is nothing more that you can teach me!" Percy exclaimed.
"No you have studied all there is to European magic." Hecate said, "You have yet to learn Greek magic."
"You realize Greece is part of Europe right?" Percy pointed out.
"Dang it, I was hoping that you wouldn't notice." Hecate said, as she opened a portal.
"Where are we going?" Percy asked,
"The Greek magical world." Hecate said, "Well, what's left of it."
"What do you mean?" Percy asked,
"You'll see." Hecate answered quickly as they stepped through the portal.
"Where is everyone?" Those were the first three words out of Percy's mouth. Then he inhaled the remnants of the once great city.
"The flame moved on." Hecate said cryptically, "When the flame of Western civiCiviliza moved to New York in 1936, the Greek wizards here lost their powers."
"Lost?" Percy asked,
"Lost" Hecate answered,
"How?" Percy inquired,
"Greek magicians had their own brand of magic, they received their type of magic from their patron gods of what ever city state they resided in." Hecate said, "When the gods left the magic left."
"Then how do you expect me to be any different?" Percy asked,
"You, Percy are literally born with the power of the gods, this is what gives you the capacity to relearn the lost ways." Hecate answered,
"So... any demigod could learn what I have learned and will learn?" Percy wondered,
"No, that is what makes you parentage so special." Hecate said,
"What about my-" Percy started,
"Your mother." Hecate answered the question before he could even fully ask it,
"What about my mother made her so special" Percy asked Hecate,
"Your mother was what the British call a squib." Hecate said, she knew that Percy knew what she meant, he had spend the better part of the last few weeks studying British magic.
"A squib is a wizard or a witch with so much potential power I seal it away so that they can't destroy themselves. Otherwise they would implode on themselves and become a sort of black hole for magic." Hecate said,
"If she was British how did she get to America." Percy asked,
"She was part of a powerful pureblood family, the Selwyns, as soon as they realized that she was a squib they ostracized her and as a result she moved to America." Hecate supplied,
"So that is the reason why I can use the Northern European brand of magic?" Percy asked,
"Yes." Hecate answered,
"But, does this mean any demigod could learn what I am about to learn?" Percy asked,
"Yes" Hecate repeated, "As long as they have my blessing."
"I have your blessing?" Percy asked,
"Of course how do you think you learned Northern Magic so easily, I am a goddess of knowledge too you know" Hecate commented,
"First you will need to learn Athenian magic, as this will make the learning experience of all the other brands of magic much easier." Hecate started, "You must know that every source of knowledge has an aura around it, one that users of Athenian magic can absorb and have all of the knowledge moved into their brain."
"So your telling me, if I can master this, I would be able to absorb all the information on the internet?" Percy asked,
"Technically, yes. In theory one could absorb all the information of the internet, though I would not recommend it as most of the internet is cat videos and the other most of it is laws about taxes." Hecate said thoughtfully, "Anyway back on topic, here." Hecate thrusted a massive textbook in his hands.
"What do you want me to do with this?" Percy asked, struggling under the weight of the massive book.
"I want you to concentrate on the topic of the book." Hecate said,
Percy looked at the cover "Greek Magic for Dummies by Hecate Mistic" He concentrated hard on what little he knew about Greek magic and felt small waves of heat make their way up to him, as he saw words fly out from the pages of the book and hover into the air in front of him and they would form words and sentances then rearrange each other to form more words and more sentences. None of which he had enough time to read but apparently seeing them was enough as knowledge was slowly making it's way towards his brain.
Suddenly there was an ache in the back of his head and he passed out.
He woke up in a comfortable bed, and looked around. He was in a Jacobean room that contrasted dark wood and light upholstery. He saw Hecate sitting in one of the chairs sipping tea.
"Good you're here." She said, "I knew you were going to pass out so I prepared to teach you while you are passed out. The wonderful thing about doing it in a dream is that I can control everything including how fast your brain learns what I have to say."
The next of what seemed like hours inside Percy's head were gibberish to him but at the same time he suddenly knew so much about the Greek brand of magic he could recite entire books worth of information on it. As well as the techniques for using the various brand's subcategories. He could now perform the magics of all of the Olympian gods and goddesses, as well as those of the more powerful non-Olimpian Gods that had been worshiped in small villages, such as Eros, or Asclepius and at his request the Curetes
He woke up, for real this time, with an even bigger headache. An he was back in the white ash filled world of what was left of the Greek magical world. His headache gradually subsided and he was felt like he could take on the world, his only regret know was that he didn't have this kind of power during the fight against Kronos, then he might have been able to save her.
"Your mission starts in three months, I hope your brush up on your French. I have one last thing to do before I depart." Hecate said walking to the only structure still standing. It was about ten feet tall and four feet wide, cylindrical in shape. Hecate clapped her hands, the cylinder split in half revealing a smaller box, Hecate picked it up gingerly.
"Take this it your right, as the master of all the Magics in Greece you are the Grand Master. It was last used in World War I by the Greek Magicians before the flame shifted in '36." Hecate said, before vanishing.
Percy opened the box and found there were three articles of clothing. One was a sort of trench coat,it had less ruffles than normal, and also was cut down the back so that there was a a split all the way up to his legs. There were no buttons on the front, apparently whoever designed it didn't want anyone shutting it. It also had armor in certain places such as the shoulders and Where the top of his forearm would be. The armoring was so incredibly intricate he had to transfigure the air next to him into a magnifying glass to examine it. There were threads of gold, Percy somehow instantly knew it was imperial gold, must have been in the training session with Hecate.
Now he gave a glance at the other things inside the box. He noticed something that he didn't see there before. There was a set of similarly armored gloves. Everything seemed to follow the same color scheme. The shirt and pants where exactly the same way.
What was he going to do now?
So This is Probably moving a bit fast but I will try my absolute hardest to slow down during Chapter One (This is only the prolauge chapters will hopefully be 2000-2500 words.
