"AAAAHHHHHHH!" My high-pitched scream pierced the air. The lights had suddenly blacked out and now I was in complete and utter darkness. Flashlight. I need a flashlight. I muttered an "Ow," as my leg bumped into the coffee table. But why did the lights go out? Lightening lit the room, and I remembered that there was a thu-. Keys scraped against the lock. The doorknob rattled. Way too terrified to do anything but stare at the door to the foyer, I also stood stalk still. Then I felt it. Adrenaline coursing through my body, making everything happen in double time. I raced up the stairs into my room. Grabbing the phone off of my vanity, I dialed the first phone number that came into my head.
"Casey? What?"
"Derek?"
"Well, this is my cel-"
"Someone is breaking into the house!!"
"What!?"
"Someone is trying to get me!"
"Lock yourself into my room! Barricade the house! No,stay away from the door. Lock yourself in the bathroom! No! Lo-"
"Derek!"
"Lock yourself in my room! I'll be there in five minutes!"
"Hurry!"
"...so she calls me and is freaking out, totally hysterical, because she thinks someone is breaking into the house. I race home, only to find out that it was Mrs. Murdock from across the street, the one with Alzheimer's. Of course, Casey was still freaked out and I had to stay up until like 4am watching movies with her. She finally fell asleep during Gone With The Wind." Ugh, I hate that movie, Although it was nice curling up on the couch...
"Are you serious, D?"
"Yeah, man. It was hilarious watching her realize she had freaked over nothing."
"Was that chemistry homework due today?"
"Chemistry homework?"
"Hey, Derek, do you wanna finish Gone With The Wind?"
"Please. I'd rather do my homework."
"Alright, then. Do your homework. I'll help."
And, that's how, three hours later, Derek and Casey were found asleep in their respective spots, snoring in time to Rhett and Scarlett arguing.
