Caroline wiped her mouth and lay back down on her bed. She was grateful to Klaus, grateful to him for saving her life but she also wanted him to leave. She didn't trust him not one bit. One minute he was reeking havoc on her life and the lives of her friends, turning her boyfriend into some hybrid freak…and the next he was speaking to her about the wonders of the world and saving her life.

"I don't get you," she finally said, unable to take the silence any longer. He was sitting beside her on her bed, just staring at her in that creepy Klaus way.

"I know. I quite like it that way, sweetheart." He smiled at her and brushed a piece of hair off of her face. She moved her head, not wanting his touch.

"Don't…don't touch me. You've finished your calculated plan. You sired my boyfriend, had him bite me, had me on my death bed and then magically came in and saved my life. You can go now."

Klaus was not used to be speaking to him in a such a candid manor. People were usually afraid of him, but Caroline Forbes was such a wonder to him. And the more he discovered her, the more he liked of her.

"I just saved your life and you have the nerve to kick me out?" he asked, just looking at her. "I kind of…like that."

She rolled her eyes and felt herself get really sleepy. What the hell was in the blood of a hybrid? "I…" she tried to speak but felt her eyelids get very tired. She closed her eyes and felt his hand on her cheek. She would have moved it away but she felt her strength slowly diminishing. She turned her face into the palm of his hand and sighed. "Thank you…for not letting me die. I'm too young to let go."

Klaus watched her as she slowly drifted off into sleep, not understanding the emotions running through him. They were things he hadn't allowed himself to feel in a very long time. He felt drawn to her, like he needed to know more about her. He sat there for what seemed a long time until he heard footsteps coming up the stairs. He climbed out her window but not before he took one last look at her, telling himself he needed to know about this Caroline Forbes.
