My Gift

Chapter 1

A baby's delighted squeal could be heard throughout the store.

"Who's a cheeky girl then?" cooed the amethyst- eyed man, bouncing her gently upon his knee. He lifted the giggling baby up to his face, placing a kiss on her forehead. At that point she managed to wrap her tiny fist around a section of his brightly-coloured hair a gave a measured tug.

"Owww...Let go Lily..." he moaned through gritted teeth, attempting to detach the incredibly happy infant from the mauve-coloured section of hair near his ear. The man tried in vain to gently pry the child from him. The child on the other hand enjoyed her game and swung her other arm around to his face and promptly wrapped her wet fist around his blond fringe, bringing it up to her mouth.

"Oh...Ra..." the man breathed as he felt the warm salvia seeping into his hair and trickling down his face.

"Are you okay Atem? I heard shouts of pain and...Oh" said Yugi gasped before dissolving into giggles at the sight before him. Atem was seated down at the table, holding baby Lily up in the air. The only think joining the two was Lily's fierce grasp on the Pharaoh's hair, and his desperate hands trying to discourage hers.

"Yugi!" Atem protested, trying to pull the baby away. "Help me!"

Yugi swallowed his laughter and walked over to the Pharaoh. "Hello gorgeous girl." He giggled, tickling her under the chin. With this action Lily gave a high pitched squeal of delight, dropping the salvia soaked hair from her hand and mouth.

Atem gave a small groan of annoyance as the hair slapped him in the face, sticking to his forehead. Yugi giggled at this, and went to work on detaching her other hand from his yami's hair. The moment the child was detached from Atem's hair; Yugi swept her up and cradled her in his arms. He bruised himself in making distracting faces at the child, hiding his laughter from Atem who was fixing his hair using their frying pan as a mirror.

Yugi smiled as he gently rocked the now placid child who was glancing around at her surroundings. He looked at how peaceful she was, and gently placed a butterfly kiss on her forehead.

"Last time I did that, she attacked me!" growled Atem as he moved behind Yugi and circled his arms around Yugi's waist.

Yugi smirked and then tightened his grip around the child when his conscience alerted him to the fact that he had to give her back soon. Atem noticed the change, and placed a quick kiss on Yugi's neck.

"It's okay." He whispered into the smaller's ear, resting his head against Yugi's neck.

"No it's not" murmured Yugi as he stroked Lily's face, who then latched on to his index finger.

"We'll find a way. I know that we will." Atem murmured in response, tightening his grip around his lover's waist.
