A/N:

-These are a series of poems based upon the central characters of Yu Yu Hausho. Basically, they are based upon internal conflicts. This first one represents Botan's suffering as a Ferry Woman. Please read, enjoy, and review.

My Façade of Lies

Can you see past my shroud,

of uncertainty and lies?

Can you see the truth,

behind my amethyst eyes?

Can you feel my pain,

hidden from the world?

Can you see my sorrowful tears,

flowing like a childish girl?

Can you see the horrible past,

I keep within myself?

Can you hear my choked sobs,

from the evils others have dealt?

Can you see the pain,

that others are forced to bear?

Can you see the death,

like a virus in the air?

Can you taste the salty tears,

of victims gone and past?

Can you hear their sorrowful moan,

when their perfect lives have been cast?

Do you know the pain,

of a lover seeing the other die?

Do you know the grief they suffer,

and you dare to ask me why?

It is not to be played with,

for death is no game.

For it is a sign to mourn,

when blood replaces rain.

Listen to me,

the Reaper of Lives,

who must witness

innocents die.

Do you know what I must suffer,

and still bring myself to lie?

You say you know me,

cherry and kind,

yet know me true do you nought.

For though I brave a false smile,

you do not know the agony I've fought.

Do you honestly know me,

one who deals in death and grief?

Do you truly know me,

after all the lives I've reaped?

Can you truly trust my words,

sprinkled with venomous lies?

It is a habit I cannot break,

for I hide behind a Facade of Lies.
