Chapter One

It all started on that day…a few years ago…

"Death Note?… what a strange name for a book" I said as I stared at the black cover, tracing my fingers over the strangely written white letters. I opened it from the back and flipped the pages.

"so it's a note book, I wonder where he got it?"

I put the book back down on the desk and finished putting away Lights laundry.

For a genius, you'd think that he could do his own laundry.

I picked up the basket and turned around, at the same time my brother came walking in.

"Good after noon Light"

"Get out"

"but I…"

"JUST GET OUT!"

He pushed me out of his room and slammed the door. I picked myself up and took the laundry basket back downstairs.

I should have asked him, when I had the chance, about the Death Note, and why did he have it. I know that he and father were apart of the Kira case, and that book is the reason I was kidnapped. Why the way I am know.

Ever since I was rescued, I …changed. the once cheerful, and happy girl turned into a quiet, withdrawn wallflower, afraid of the slightest noise. Although, I no longer need the use of my wheelchair.

I graduated collage a few months ago, and since my brother and father being involved with the case, the government funded my tuition for the remainder of my education.

Now that the case is over, and the world finally getting back to its normal pace, I kind of miss the hectic chaos, I found it strangely fascinating. To see the strongest men falling to their knees because of one persons power to choose weather one lives or dies, as if they were a higher power, watching all of us carry out or lives, thinking about who they will claim next.

Today the Death Note is just an article in those tabloid news papers along with the latest Elvis sighting. I've heard of cults that worship Kira as their Messiah, praying that he will one day return like some kind of Jesus.

Still, my curiosity won't die until I find out if Light still has the book or not.

Leaned back into my chair stretching my arms, letting out a yawn. I shut my diary and put it in my secret spot, in a stuffed rabbit I got from Light for my birthday when I was ten.

"If I have a spot for something that I don't want found…."

I looked at the clock. 2am, mom has to be in bed by now.

I carefully opened my door, I look down the hall, all the lights were out. I tiptoed my way down to my moms room, I was right, sound asleep. I turned around and headed towards Lights room, I opened the door a slowly as I could, trying not to make any noise. When I finally got it open, I stepped in and shut the door. The room was pitch black so I flipped on the light switch.

The room hasn't been touched in years, but my mother would clean it every so often, pretending that he was still here.

Now the search beings…
