She wore that dress like it was a Saturday
Pretty as a summer rose
Picked in the morning

He held her hand like it was a mystery
One he couldn't quite believe
Was walking with him

"Is this okay with you?" Derek held Chloe's hand in his and as hard as he was trying not to show his nervousness it peaked through his voice on the last word.

Chloe looked up with a gentle smile and pushed her hair out of her face. "Yeah, it's perfectly fine."

They were walking along the edge of the woods that lay beside the Motel they were at. Derek kept sneakily glancing at her, the ever present worry creeping in his words every so often. She tossed him and easy grin and leaned herself against his shoulder as they walked along. The sun was just sitting on the horizon, basking each of them in its orange-y glow. It would have made a perfect shot for a sappy love movie, had Chloe been into those.

"Everything's going to change now, you know." Derek stopped and brought his free hand up to shield his eyes before he looked into the forest; on the other side of the Motel cars were racing their way down the road.

She gently took her hand away from his and sat down on the grass. She looked up and gave him look that said he should sit down too. He followed her and she pulled her legs up to her chest, resting her head on his shoulder. "We can never go back."

Derek sighed and ran his hand through his hair. "At least we're all together?" He said it like a question, as if not sure that would be enough.

Chloe breathed in the piney air and nodded, her hair moving over the skin of his arm. "Yeah...Yeah."

They sat in silence for a few moments, just looking as the sun set in the distance and the warm air around them gave way to a chilly breeze. Chloe shivered and stared at the weak light the stars were giving off.

She let out a bitter laugh. "It's just difficult, you know?" Chloe scratched her leg with an unusual fierceness. "Aunt Lauren says we'll find a way to tell my dad that I'm safe, but that's not going to happen anytime soon."

"It's just for your safety." Derek murmurs quietly.

"That and not knowing if Rae is okay. Knowing that Liz is really gone." She dropped her head in defeat.

There were rare moments when Chloe completely beat herself down and this was one of them. She didn't like having a pity party which was exactly the reason she was saying all of this stuff around Derek, because she knew he would only tell her the truth; may it be difficult to hear. No sugar coating.

Chloe starts to stand up and grabs her wrist. He looks up at her and a conflicted emotion flashes across his face. He looks up shyly from under his hair that he thinks desperately needs to be cut. "You know you aren't the only one who worries right?"

He pulls her down playfully so that she is laying down on top of him on the grass. He gives her a half smile when he sees that her cheeks are coated in red.

"I worry if we're all safe. I always think that there is someone or something following us, which is reasonably, honestly. I definitely worry about whether or not you think is" He motions between us. "Right or not."

Chloe leans down and presses a kiss on the side of his mouth. Derek growls and flips her over. "That's exactly what I wanted to hear." He captures her mouth in a kiss and groans when Chloe runs her fingers through his hair desperately.

She pulls away from him and searches his face. "This," she motions between them like he did a few moments prior. "Is exactly what I want."
