Hey it's Green the Cat and I rewrote this fic just for you guys. Few things to note: One, Toya is Black and Hilda is White. Two, I paired them together for this fic. Three, I own Chance and his homeless-ness.
Disclaimer: If I own Pokemon, hell has frozen over.
Enjoy the goods!
Hilda wrung out her hair. She understood Bianca was excited, but to push her into a fountain? Hilda sighed and watched the world go by in a blur through the subway windows.
"Now stopping at Castelia City.," the mechanical voice said over the speakers
Hilda slung her bag over her shoulder and walked off the subway car. She turned and waved to Emmet who was driving the subway today. Emmet waved as he pulled out and headed to the next destination while Hilda debated where to go. If she was correct, berries were in sale at the market today.
Hilda walked down the street and paused to observe a blue-haired boy. His shirt was three sizes too big and his pants were threadbare. She thought he was wearing a pair of girl's flats. Hilda watched as the boy dug into a dumpster to pull out a broken pocket-watch. He toyed with the little gears and seemed quite content.
Hilda shrugged and walked away from the boy and his watch.
Hilda stepped out of the Pokemon Center and looked around. She blinked when she saw the boy from yesterday. He was wearing the same oversized clothes and girl's shoes, but he was doing something different. He seemed to be stacking old shoe boxes into an orderly pile.
Hilda couldn't tear her eyes away from the somber scene even though there was nothing she could do. She went back into the PokeCenter and went to the PokeMart at the front of the building.
"I need a stuffed toy and a blanket.," Hilda said as she slammed some money down onto the counter.
She took the items they handed her and she went outside. She saw the boy stacking up the boxes and she walked over to him. Hilda cleared her throat to announce her presence to the boy.
He turned on his heel and stared at her with large green eyes. A smudge of dirt ran across his cheek and Hilda bit down the urge to wipe it away. Instead, she held out her hands to offer the blanket and toy.
He smiled and ran over to grab them from her. He paused on the way back to his boxes and turned his head.
"Thank you."
His voice was quiet and Hilda had to strain to hear him over the crowd. She watched as he disappeared amongst the alleys and Hilda was struck with a thought.
How could she help him?
The weather was bad, almost as if on order from Tornadus itself. Hilda found herself going to Castelia City. She wanted to check on that boy. Thunder roared above her head and Hilda shivered. The storm was going to be nasty, that much was certain. She looked for the orphan she was getting attached to.
She didn't see him near the dumpster he frequented.
She didn't see him in the alley.
She couldn't find him. She couldn't find the stack of boxes or his blanket.
Hilda panicked. She called her boyfriend on the Xtransceiver.
"Hilda, what in-"
"Toya, I can't find him.," Hilda said, effectively cutting Toya off.
"Can't find who?," Toya asked even as he shook his head.
"A boy who lives on the streets in Castelia. Help me find him.," Hilda said and hung up the device.
Hilda ran down alley after alley looking for the orphan. He was nowhere to be found. The rain had started and seeing anything was difficult.
Then Hilda saw a shock of blue hair. She rushed over and checked his pulse. He was alive, but unconscious and clearly not sleeping. She checked his temperature with her hand, he had a fever.
Hilda managed to gather the child in her arms and off she went. She ducked through alleys and passed by the PokeCenter. Hilda panted as she reached her goal, a hotel. Toya stood in the lobby as if he had been waiting for her. He took her hand and guided her to a room he had already rented.
Toya helped Hilda undress and redress the little boy with some of his old clothes. As he helped Hilda a thought came to mind.
"What's his name?"
"From what I've gathered, he doesn't have one.," Hilda answered.
"Then let's call him Chance.," Toya said.
Hilda could only nod as the newly dubbed Chance sneezed.
"Why?"
"Let's take a chance and adopt him.," Toya answered.
Hilda looked by at the little boy's flushed face.
How could she say no?
"Mommy, I want a Pokemon.," Chance said as he held his father's hand.
"If you score well on your test, we'll go catch you a Pokemon. But you have to be good.," Hilda answered.
As Chance babbled on, Hilda realized how right Toya was. She looked up to see Chance playing with Toya's Whimsicott and she smiled.
The world was officially perfect. All because Toya insisted that they take a chance.
Well what do you think? Review and what-not, I like hearing your thoughts.
A challenge has appeared. What Pokemon sings joyfully as it inflicts pain upon its prey? Bonus reward for those who guess my favorite 6th gen Pokemon. Hint: It's not the Pokemon from the first challenge, but is immune to one the first Pokemon's types.
Your reward is a story with your own input. Meaning, you could design a character and have me use them or pick out the next pairing and their Pokemon teams. The bonus from guessing my favorite 6th gen Pokemon is another story with you deciding the essential pieces and me writing the thing. The bonus can be multi-chaptered and all kinds of other stuff. Go nuts with it.
Remember review to win, but entries containing just answers will be ignored. Flames for this fic are valid review entries provided you answer the question(s) above. Have Fun!
Adieu – Green the Cat
