"Inuyasha, I'm so sorry, were you waiting for me?" Inuyasha sets her down and immediately pulls her into his arms. "You idiot, what have you been doing all this time?" Miroku, Sango, their children and Shippo approach. "Kagome! You came back!" "It's been much too long Kagome!" With a large smile on her face, Kagome calls out, "Miroku, Sango, Shippo!" 'I'm back!' She thinks to herself.
The rest of the day, while Kagome made the rounds in the village, saying hello to Kaede and Rin and the others, Inuyasha never took his hand off her back, even slowly moving under her shirt and sweater. He couldn't believe she was here. She came back to him, she gave up everything she ever knew to spend her life with him. The well was closed once again, probably to never to be open again. She was here with him and he was over joyed.
The night was slowly approaching, Kagome turns to him and asks, "Inuyasha, do you have a place here or do you sleep in the trees like normal?" He turns to her, blinking dumbly, and then turns away, flushing "I have a place, though I don't use it. No point in having a family home if you don't have a family." Kagome's eyes soften, "Stupid Inuyasha, I've been your family for years now."
Blushing harder, Inuyasha gently grabs her hand and leads her to a hut close to the village edge. Kagomes hand tightens around his, excited to be with him. Once inside, Inuyasha takes painstaking care of creating a fire, and preparing the hut for the night. He silently removes his robe of the fire rat and hands it to her to sleep in. She thanks him, and he turns his back so she can change.
As she climbs into the futon, and gets settled, Inuyasha props himself on the wall, sword on his shoulder like always. Kagome chuckles to herself, reaches over, and pulls him into bed along side her. "Inuyasha, I came here to be with you, you don't have to distance yourself." Smiling softly, he crawls into bed, pulling Kagome into him, burying his face into her bangs, and she into the crook of his neck.
He breathes her in, thanking every god he can for the blessing that is Kagome. He kisses her cheeks, her lips, then her forehead, the two of them slowly drifting off to sleep. Together once again.
