Sweat drips down a frantic face as a boy of ten runs down a cleared street making his way towards the laboratory of Professor Oak. All he could think about was how could he have slept in on today of all days? The day that would decide the fate of the rest of his life. Not pausing at the door of the laboratory Ash bursts in.
"Professor Oak! I am here!" Ash pants slowly gathering his breath and wild eyes searching for the Professor. He finds the Professor looking unimpressed at his pajama clad body.
"The others got here on time and have already started their journey," informed Oak crossing his arms. Dread filled Ash as he noticed three empty pokeballs sitting on the display.
"Please, Professor! Tell me you still have a starter pokemon for me left," Ash pleaded with wide eyes.
Professor Oak briefly closes his eyes in thought before bringing a hand to rest against his chin before stating, "Well...there is one I can think of but, she was just recently hatched."
"I will take her!" Ash quickly shouts moving his arms widely, "You know how hard I've studied for this moment." Ash thinks upon the hours of study to get his trainer's license approved and the agony of waiting for the day he would receive a pokemon of his own to train.
Nodding Oak makes his way to the back room and quickly gathers a pokeball with a pink sticker on it. Curious at what his new partner would be Ash questioned, "So what kind of pokemon is she?" Smiling Oak tossed the pokeball into the air releasing the pokemon inside.
"This is Cleffa." explained Oak as Ash took in the tiny pink pokemon before him. Eyes widened knowing only a little of the rare pokemon before him.
Ash whispered in awe,"A fairy type?"
"That would be correct, Ash," Oak confirms. Smiling down at the the confused Cleffa before them Oak continues, "Cleffa, this will be your partner from now on." Curious Cleffa blinks up at Ash. Gathering his wits, Ash crouches down to Cleffa's level.
"Hello, there," Ash says offering his hand to Cleffa,"Would you like to be my first pokemon?" Cleffa looks deeply into Ash's eyes before nodding and taking Ash's hand.
