After meeting Luke Skywalker, Obi Wan sits down and writes his last letter to his best friend Bant Eerin, to say good bye and to tell her something that he has never told anyone before in his life.

Goodbye My Dear Friend

Dearest Bant,

I thought that I might write to you; for this will be the last letter that will ever reach you most likely. I will be heading to Earth later today and I thought I should write to you, because you should know what I'm heading off to and that I most likely will never return from. In all the time that we have been friends, I have never told you how glad I am that you became my friend, nay my family. You were, still are the best friend I have ever had in all my years, and thinking back on my life you became like a sister to me. I miss talking to you whenever I want, and writing letters every so often has taken a toll on me. Please don't write a letter back to me, for I regret to tell you that by the time you get this I will most likely die at the hands of Anakin Skywalker; for I have met up with Anakin's son today, and I know that he is capable of great things. I truly believe he is the one who is to bring balance to the force and not his father like we had previously thought. Well, Luke is coming back, and that means I should be off. Remember always that I love you, and you have been such a good friend to me in all our long years. Although we had our arguments from time to time, I would not change a moment of my life.
