Disclaimer: I don't own any of the characters. They all come from writing genius, Rob Thomas and belong to him and UPN/The CW.
It's been 4 years since he left with his daughter. Yup, 4 years, 6 months, 1 week and 3 days.
What can I say, I still love him. He consumes my dreams and my thoughts of the future even today. Sure I've dated around a couple of guys since he left. I even got back with Logan for a few months. But still I never got over him.
Him, Duncan Kane, brother to my dead best friend, father to his dead ex-girlfriend daughter and the first and only love of my life.
Bur I have to forget him, I have to move on. If only I could…
"Veronica wake up, we're graduating today" The voice of my best friend came to my ears.
Yes graduating, weird to think of it. I always thought Duncan would be there with me.
"Veronica come on, we have to be ready in 2 hours" I groaned, Wallace wouldn't give up without seeing me get up. "There you happy now, I'm up" I told Wallace while getting
out of bed.
Here I am, Veronica Mars, 2010th Valedictorian of Hearts College,
I quietly kicked Wallace out of my room so I could get ready in peace.
I knew I had everything planned out for the day, my outfit was picked out, my speech was written but the only thing I has left to do is look at his picture.
Yes, pathetic, I know but it's all that gets me going in the morning.
"Are you nervous about giving your speech?" Wallace asked me as we sat in rows waiting for the ceremony to end. "Not really, I just want to get it over with" I answered him.
"And now we have a few words from this years Valedictorian, Veronica Mars" The dean of the college said. Everyone clapped to be polite as I walked up to the podium.
"Heats College has really…" I froze seeing that one person's standing in the back smiling back at me.
Duncan, it couldn't be him. I had to be dreaming. I blinked a couple of times to make sure he was real. And yet he was so maybe I wasn't dreaming.
"Harts College has been one of the greatest adventures I've embarked on. I won't ever forget this place. It has meant so much to me" I quickly finished my speech.
The ceremony went on and on. "Veronica Mars" The Dean called again. I got my diploma and got off stage.
Half an hour later the ceremony was finally over. I could see my father walking up to me to congratulated but I walked right pass him.
The only person I really wanted to see was Duncan. I ran into his open arms and he spun me around.
"What are you doing here?" I asked smiling from ear to ear. "Did you really think I was going to miss your graduation" He answered me.
Ok so I'm nuts, I'll still have to find out the real reason he's back but for now I'll enjoy having him hold me.
