They were happy. They really were. Some say that you only have so many happy moments in one's life and these two would know that better than anyone.
The first of those days was when he propose to her. They had been dating since sophomore year of high school, and now they were both out of college. She said yes of course and cried because she thought something like this would never.
The second was when they got married. She was wearing a long white strapless dress that was a little bit shorter in the front than in the back with a sequined belt around her waist. He was wearing a black suit with a red bow tie (typical). She had Azelma as her maid of honor and both Cosette and Musichetta as her bridesmaids. He had Combeferre as his best man and Courfeyrac and Marius as his groomsmen.
Their third and last happy moment was when she found out she was pregnant. She was about a week and a half when she decided to get a few test. After she took them they all came out positive. She nearly cried in the bathroom for an hour before he got home. They had been married for a few years and started to want a child but she didn't know that it was going to be as soon as possible but needless to say she was excited. She quickly grabbed a gift bag and some tissue paper to wrap it in. When he got home he saw her sitting on the couch watching TV. She quickly spotted him and got up to give him a quick kiss which just turned into a full on makeout session before she pulled away (in which he protested) and went to go get the gift. She came back and gave it to him to open while video taping it. He gave her a weird expression but didn't say anything as he continued to open the gift. Once he had opened to up the tissue paper and saw the positive pregnancy test he almost cried with joy. She quickly ran over to him and gave him a strand of kisses while laughing. The two took a picture with the test in her hand and went to the Musain to tell their friends who had almost had the same reaction as they both did. The guys (except for Jehan) flipped out. The girls freaked out my just squealing and Jehan just cried. She was 4 months pregnant when he had to leave for the military. He was only going to be gone for a few weeks but she always worried when he left.
It was a normal day at the Musain when she got the call. The person on the other end was telling her that in the middle of the night there was a bombing in which he was a victim. He was alive just long enough for them to find him and died soon after and that he would be sent home in a coffin with a flag draped over it. As soon as the call ended she burst into tears not even caring that the everyone could see her. The girls and Jehan and Grantaire rushed to her side and the soon quickly followed. The girls tried to soothe her but to no avail. A good 10 minutes had passed before she was able to say anything.
"Enjolras is coming home." Eponine managed to choke out
"But isn't that a good thing?" Cosette asked her.
Eponine looked up at her and said,"Not if it's in a coffin with a flag draped over it." She began to cry again immediately after. The other knew what she meant but didn't ask how. They all surrounded her in one big huge with tears in all of their eyes. 2 weeks later they had the funeral in which she buried him with a picture of the baby. She placed the picture between his hands and chest and kissed his forehead before saying," I love you." One last final time.
