Duo shielded his eyes as the explosive device he had set blew up. He immediately took off running from the Oz base. He patted his pocket, knowing how the information he had just stolen would help the colonies win the war. Finally he spotted Deathscythe Hell. With a quick jump he was in the cockpit once more, where he felt at home. He pushed a couple buttons and prepared to fight the few remaining mobile dolls. They weren't worthy opponents. Just programmed machines. After a few blows of the scythe he was on his way back to the hideout on the L2 colony.

Duo stopped his cloaked Gundam in his garage/workshop where he tinkered around with the extras from his scrapping business. The artificial sun was dying parts of the fading blue colony sky bright magenta and gold and melting into the horizon. A warm breeze tugged playfully at a few loose strands of his hair. He walked to the apartment he and Hildie shared with an extra bounce in his step. He hadn't been home in a month due to the three consecutive missions he had been on and he couldn't wait to see his koibito again.

When he opened the door Hildie was cooking some dinner for herself. How he loved that smell: real food; especially when she cooked it.

"Duo!" she cried. The look on her face could have warmed even the coldest heart. Duo opened his arms and spun her around when she jumped into them.

"Oh Hildie, I'm so happy to see you," he said. She breathed in the scent that was so uniquely his and ran her hands through his hair. She always felt so safe with him around. They held each other in that tight embrace for an eternity that seemed like a second.

"How did everything go? Did you get the information?" she inquired.

"Would Shinigami let you down?" he stated. Then he picked her up again and gave her a kiss on the forehead. "Whatcha cookin'?" he pondered as he leaned over the stove.

"Just the usual," she said, then thought again "but I can put it in the fridge if you wanna take me out to dinner" the words hung in the air for only a second, cut short by an enthusiastic Duo.

"Nothing would make me happier." Then he threw on a nice black dress shirt and rebraided his hair. Hildie had freshened up already by the time he got to the door. Her short black hair brightened up her sparkling blue eyes. To him she was the most beautiful girl to ever walk the earth. He smiled his winsome grin and kissed her hand. She giggled and they were off. They ate at a table overlooking the manmade ocean which was now a deep black demon, whipping the sandy shore. After they ate they drove home. They fell asleep curled up in each other's arms, finally together.

Duo spent the next day reviewing the info he had stolen with the other Gundam pilots at the hideout. He would've preferred Quatre's place, but there were too many people that could overhear their conversation. The shack was dimly lit with flickering light bulbs and the rain outside came pouring down. A jolt of lightning followed by a crack of thunder announced Wufei's presence. He walked in the door silently, careful not to step on some printouts on the floor that Quatre, Trowa, and Duo were reading.

"Still no sign from Heero?" asked a worried Quatre.

"No," was the short reply from the Chinese pilot who had just entered. Trowa brought his fist up to his chin in a noble, thinking position, trying to make sense of the papers.

"Come on guys, we gotta move NOW!!!" Everyone but Wufei, who remained like a stone, jumped six inches in the air. It was Heero. "Trash the info, it was all a trap! Oz is after us right now!" he yelled as he readied the explosives for their revealed hideout.
