Title: The Toast
Disclaimer: The usual, don't own anything Doctor Who related. Just borrowing a character to vent about recent events.
As had become customary at the end of the annual dinner to honor the memory of Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart, one of his former UNIT colleagues stood to propose the traditional toasts. First, to the Queen. Second to the memory of the Brigadier. And third, to the memories of those UNIT soldiers who lost their lives fighting to protect Earth.
After all the toasts were completed, former Sergeant Major Benton stood and asked if he could propose one more toast. No one objected, so he said:
"I would like to propose a toast tonight to the memory of a man who, although he wasn't one of us, died this week at the hands of creatures so vile, they make Daleks look merciful and Cybermen appear sentimental."
Benton had barely finished when everyone in the room lifted their glasses and said, "To Rigby."
