This is one of my first works. I am rather new here.
I wanted to capture Astrid's final thoughts as she fell. She is a wonderful character with a bittersweet ending.
Disclaimer: I do NOT own the BBC, Doctor Who, Or any of its characters.
Please review.
Falling so fast, my heartbeat quickens. Pounding so loud, it drowns out his cries for my name. Hopelessly he reaches his hand out for me to take. I reach, but the distance is too much.
Falling.
So far.
I can see his face again.
He is crying...?
Don't cry for me. I know what I did. I know what I gave up.
His tear filled eyes meet mine as he leans forward with a kiss.
An ancient tradition.
He sets me free and I drift off into the stars. His promise a whisper softer than silk:
"No longer falling, Astrid. You're flying."
Floating across time and space, I can travel anywhere.
I will never forget the man who showed me my first star. For he has shown me all of them, But none are brighter than those that fall from his eyes. And when I feel like I am falling, I remember his face and I have enough energy to fly again.
My new life is full of galaxies and planets, Stars and moons, love and life. Life I never dreamed existed.
The music of the universe is a beautiful orchestra. And now I have a song to join in.
Flying.
So far.
No enemies. No troubles. No worries. Except one:
Where to fly next?
