Snow

Kaito is crestfallen when Haruto seemingly cannot remember what snow is. A winter evening does make for promises of building a snowman the next morning, though. Post-canon, no pairings, Kaito & Haruto brotherly love with a smidget of Dr. Faker, born out of my need for more drabbles/one-shots like these rather than everything being about Diamondshipping. DLDR.

So since I got sick and tired of putting in "Kaito T." and excluding "Romance" only to get 270 stories, half of which are of him with Rio (romantically) or implied Diamond if nothing else, I decided to write a nice little family drabble myself since they seem so rare and in-between for me. Hope you like it minna! :)

Snow

"Nii-chan..." his little brother spoke up, having gotten out of bed as he stared at the small white flakes falling from the sky. "What are those?"

Kaito, who was busily reading "To Kill a Mockingbird" while Haruto rested before it was time for dinner, looked up at the question and smiled.

"That's snow, Haruto." he explained. "Remember how we used to play in it years ago?"

The younger brother blinked, turning to gaze at his older sibling. "We had?"

"Yes... it was before... everything ... happened..."

"Nii-san, you know that I don't blame you or Otou-san for that, right?" Haruto had to ask, frowning.

"I know but due to all that happened during the WDC, you forgot what snow was."

"No, I didn't..." the younger sibling smiled and walked over, making himself comfy on his brother's lap. "Nii-san, could we go outside tomorrow and build a snowman?"

"Of course, Haruto, of course." Kaito put the book aside and hugged him, smiling, grateful to whoever was up there that his brother was healthy again. Healthy and happy. The two siblings turned to look out the window of Haruto's room, both of them slowly dozing off.

That was how Dr. Faker found them half an hour later and smiled to himself, deciding to let them sleep peacefully for a change.

Dinner could wait.
