Merlin's POV:
I woke up, and immediately noticed how brightly the sun was streaming through the windows. I got up, and dashed off towards Arthur's room. I pushed open the door to his room, and gasped in shock and pain. Arthur was there, all right, but he wasn't alone. Gwen was with him, and Arthur's shirt was off. Gwen had her arms wrapped around him and was kissing him. I let out a gasp of pain, and started to turn and run, but not before I caught a glimpse of the shock on Arthur's face. He always did say that my inability to knock would get me in trouble, and he was right.
"Merlin!" Arthur yelled after me. I continued running, heading for the highest tower, tears streaming down my face. I had been a fool to fall in love with Arthur, a complete and utter fool. I raced up to the highest tower, needing to get away from every memory of Arthur. My feet pounded up the stairs, and I heard someone else's feet pounding after mine. I propelled through the door, breaking into the cool air of the morning. I looked down at Camelot, saw the people bustling around, wrapped in their own lives, with no clue about the tragedy that had just happened to me, and heaven forbid them knowing, heaven forbid anyone knowing.
"Merlin." Arthur's voice whispered.
"What do you want, Arthur?" I said, trying to sound uncaring, and miserably failing.
"I'm sorry." Arthur murmured.
"For what?" I replied.
"I shouldn't have been with Gwen." Arthur said.
"It's your choice to be with who you want, Arthur." I replied.
"I want to be with you." Arthur murmured, moving closer to me. I backed up further, until I was leaning against the stone of the wall. I couldn't even think, didn't want to think about what he was saying. I looked behind me, down at the ground, and then back at Arthur.
"Merlin, don't-please, get away from the edge." Arthur pleaded.
"I'm sorry, Arthur. I've always loved you." I said, then stepped backwards. I felt myself begin to fall, and started to regret what I had decided to do.
"Merlin!" Arthur's anguished cry was the last thing I heard as I plummeted to the ground. I used magic to slow my descent, but hitting the ground was still too much. The last thing I saw was Arthur's face, and then I was overwhelmed by darkness.
