AN: After a long break I've decided to return to writing. I had some inspiration to write about the Rory/Jess 'ILY' episode. Now I know many have written about this before but I'm hoping that my rewrite is different. I hope you enjoy it. Read and review. I can't promise quick updates.

(At the firelight festival)

"Hey Luke," Lorelai said slightly worried "is that Jess running after Rory over there?"

Luke looked to where she was pointing and saw Jess chasing Rory desperately. "Yeah, wow, well he's caught up and they're talking."

Luke and Lorelai watched intently as Rory and Jess spoke. As Jess walked away Lorelai said "Whoa, what happened? He just said something and she didn't reply and now he's going...oh dear this doesn't look good."

"Yeah she looks really upset" Luke remarked as he, Lorelai and Rory all watched Jess drive away.

"I think I'll go talk to her. Thanks for the earrings." Lorelai walked away and Luke smiled softly as she did so, watching her go.

"Rory, hey, what was all that about?" Lorelai asked once she'd reached her upset daughter.

Rory shook her head and walked fast towards the Jeep. Lorelai followed her determined to see what that punk had done to hurt Rory this time. They both got in the car and the elder of the two began to start the engine but then stopped and turned to face Rory.

"Come on hun, aren't you gonna tell me what happened?" But once again her daughter shook her head and gestured for her to start the car.

The drive back to the Crap Shack was silent and Lorelai was beginning to worry because even the day when Jess left town Rory wasn't this quiet or upset.

As soon as they reached the house Rory got out of the car even before Lorelai had turned off the engine and she ran into the house shutting herself in her room. But her mother wasn't going to give up that easily. Lorelai ran into the house and quietly went into Rory's room. She joined her daughter sitting on her bed.

"Honey please say something, you're scaring me."

Rory looked her mother right in the eye and whispered "He loves me."

Lorelai took a second to just sit there in shock and then replied "Jess? He said that?"

Rory slowly nodded, turning away from her mother and laid down on her bed.

"And what did you say?" She waited for a reply but just like Jess did not receive one. "Nothing? You said nothing?

Once again Rory nodded slowly.

"Is that why he drove off? Because you said nothing." Lorelai asked but only received a shrug in answer.

Lorelai took a moment to think and digest this big news. "Rory?"

Her daughter looked up.

"Do you love him back?" Lorelai said softly.

Rory replied with a hint of frustration "What does it matter now it's too late, he's gone...again."

Lorelai got up and walked to the door and as she closed the door she said quietly "It matters a lot."

Just as Rory was about to turn off her light she heard a faint and familiar voice saying "It's not too late."

She stood up and walked to her window cautiously opening her curtain to see him, and she stared into his deep chocolate brown eyes and breathed out "Jess."

OK so I know it's short but I just want to know if it's worth continuing because I'm not really sure where I'm going with this and I want to know if I should bother. Tell me what you think. Constructivecriticism is always appreciated.
