A/N: Another quick Melody/Tori friendship drabble. What can I say, I love them! Inspired by an Elizabeth Hardwick quote.

Books

Melody had never been a fan of books. She'd never really felt motivated to pay attention to any of the tomes. The task of actually reading them seemed like a boring and arduous thing.

But then she'd met Tori.

Tori was reserved and shy, but Melody could easily tell she was a very kind girl. The blonde just seemed to give off a gentle aura that could calm a wild beast. Melody was glad to call herself her friend. But she still did not understand why books were such a source of enjoyment to Tori.

But then she got to know Tori.

At first she'd almost been worried, for the blonde's head was always in the clouds. And yet when things got more complicated, Tori approached any trouble calmly, with unlimited patience and wisdom beyond her years. Her quiet optimism would be unlimited, and she would keep her mind open to anyone's problems and be completely nonjudgemental. (Though when Melody would compliment the girl later, all she would get was a blush and a stuttered response that she was "j-just trying t-to help.") It was as if just by reading, one could attain a...moral illumination, of sorts. Knowledge of the world, and wide experience. By reading...

Melody scanned the library walls, and deciding on a book, flipped it open and began reading.
