Nightmares
She's standing on their childhood beach, listening to the seagulls squawk above her in the skies. The ocean breeze feels wonderful against her skin, and she watches the clear blue waters of the ocean lap at her feet. It's almost perfect, but there's something missing.
"Kairi!"
She turns and finds him running toward her, the boy whose name she can't remember.
His bright blue eyes are reflecting stray rays of sunlight, and his shoes leave solid marks in the sand. She runs toward him in a heartbeat and falls into his awaiting arms. There, she stands in his embrace, simply enjoying this needed feeling of security.
"This is real, right?" she asks hesitantly.
The boy whose name she can't remember brushes aside the strands of hair on her face and places a light kiss on her forehead.
"Of course it is, Kairi."
He leans back and smiles at her, his eyes kind and forgiving, and she almost allows herself to believe it… but the air changes.
The sun finds itself completely eclipsed by opaque clouds; the sand becomes wet with a violent torrent of waves. Darkness surrounds the newly reunited couple.
Kairi clings to his jacket tightly. This has happened before, she knows it, and she won't let him go. He's going to leave again, and she's whispering no, no, stay with me please. He can't leave her when he's finally come back…
The boy whose name she can't remember disappears in a brilliant show of light, even as she finally cries out his name.
"Sora!"

Kairi jolts awake, breathing heavily and covered in sweat. She takes comfort in her blanket, wrapping it around herself as she buries her face in it.
It was just a dream, she tells herself, just a bad dream.
She still can't remember his name.

Omg weak damsel-in-distress Kairi is not. But this wasn't reality; this was a nightmare. Therefore, maybe it's slightly excusable that Sora was a knight-in-shining-armour and Kairi was dependent? XD Probably not, but I hope you enjoyed it anyway :3
