Another Path
Jacob, friend, and confidant
To me your face will always haunt
Not nightmares cold
But dreams so bold
As to make me want to keep living
In this mortal skin, warm and forgiving
Blind to yesterday's tomorrow
And tomorrow's past
Living in your rich embrace
And letting time and space erase
These memories of immortal life
And human strife
Mortal gain
And haunting pain
With you, as your wife
Our children growing, sound and safe
In a home of wealth in love
And faith and honesty, pure as the soaring dove
This is the path I dare not tread
No matter how beautiful, the thread
Of the tapestry it weaves
For I am on a different road
Of blood, and pain, and overload
But with pleasure beyond your wildest dreams
So, think of me fondly, and forget this life, which I pulled at the seams
I can't go with you, but I love you, I do
But you must understand that I love him too
Thank you for reading and please comment ;)
