Lyn stands out on the plains of Sacae the air pulling at her hair and whispering through the grasses. When she was little and couldn't sleep, she used to be able to close her eyes, and imagine that the whispering grasses were her family, standing outside the tent, watching over her. "Now…" She closes her eyes, and the whispers change into screams. The screams of her family, her friends, the death knell of everything she once knew. She feels strong arms wrap around her, she sees her father lift her onto his horse opening his mouth, "Lyn, I love you."
She opens her eyes, and finds that these are not her father's arms, but Hector's, and that her face is pressed into his chest plate. "I'm here, and I love you." Lyn shudders as she tries to flush the memories out of her system like a toxin. She feels her heart wrenching, and knows that she has failed once again as she sobs like a wounded child in the arms of the rudest, most irritating person she's ever met. Hector was there, arms surrounding her, quietly holding on as she felt her heart break again, there on the grassy plains of her childhood.
