Disclaimer: If I owned Fullmetal Alchemist why would I be writing Fanfiction? Seriously. So don't sue me.

Titles.

I am Edward Elric

A Soldier.

A Hero of the people

A Dog of the military

A State Alchemist

The Fullmetal Alchemist

These are the titles I hold; you may think that they are too heavy a burden for a boy of only fifteen but they are nothing. Compared to the other most vital title I have to bear, that is only equalled by the weight of the guilt and of my own automail limbs.

Currently I am sitting in the office of my superior, Colonel Roy Mustang, the Flame Alchemist or as I like to call him, Colonel Flame up his ass, being very annoyed. Waiting for the bastard to start the lecture so I could leave, and continue my search.

"So Fullmetal." Here we go. "Please enlighten me as to why you find it essential to get hospitalised on every mission I send you on"

He pauses, smirking smugly and I count silently

3,2,1. Hello short joke.

"I know you have a Short temper and have the very Little self control of a Tiny kid"

"WHO ARE YOU CALLING A RUNT SO SMALL YOU COULD DROWN IN A MILLILTER OF WATER!?"(1) I yellvirtually out of reflex.

He ignores me and carries on no longer smirking.

"But at this rate you'll kill yourself, what will Al do then Ed"

My breath catches in my throat and I look at my hand. One flesh. One metal. Both clenched into fists.

Al. My little brother or rather, the shell of what used to be my little brother.

Now he is merely a soul trapped in armour, not being able to feel the wind on his skin or the smell of fresh air, or even the taste of fresh fruit and its all my fault.

He told me He had a bad feeling about trying human transmutation the world's greatest taboo , but I didn't listen and his body and leg were taken as payment for our sin.

And yet he still trusts me, loves me, looks up to me, even though he should hate me for what I've done to him. I will get the Philosophers Stone and return him to his body even if it's the last thing I do.

The most difficult title to bear is and always will be is the title he lays upon me.

Soldier.

Hero of the people

Dog of the military

State Alchemist

Fullmetal Alchemist

Brother.
