Disclaimer: I don't Yu-gi-oh! Or any of its characters…. Although… I suppose I do (did) own the sugar-high I was on while typing this up….

AN: This is dedicated to lulu belle! Her review on A Thief's Life really inspired me to keep writing and always keeps my writers block at bay when I re-read her review. So... this is a teensy thanks for an awesome person who totally saved my confidence ;) You rock!

Shiny Things

"You think she's alive?"

~"I think she can hear you"

"… Yes-Yes, Ryou, but is she alive?"

~"How can she hear you but not be ALIVE?"

"SHHH! … I don't know. Maybe her spirit is on its way to the Shadow Realm, it doesn't mean that it's oblivious to anything in our realm"

~"… Did Belle ever tell you that you're a moron?"

Before Yami Bakura could answer his hikari, a pillow was sent flying towards his head from the general direction of the bed. Bakura caught it just in time, suddenly really grateful that the young girl hadn't loaded it with bricks or some of his own knives.

"Ugh, what are you guys doing here?" the young girl said as she sat up while rubbing her sore head. She didn't even bother to ask. They came by so often, it was a surprise they hadn't just decided to set up a squatter camp in her living room.

"It's his fault!" Ryou quickly said, pointing a finger to his yami.

"Is not! He was the one who suggested it!" Yami Bakura countered, flustered.

"Are you kidding me! It's four 'o clock in the morning! Get out!" the young girl snapped, throwing another pillow at the thousand year-old spirit.

With an absurd amount of confidence, Bakura beefed up his chest, grinning as he awaited the pillow-y wrath. The hit came with a hollow 'pop' noise as the cushion hit Yami Bakura on the head. For a moment, the spirit seemed unperturbed… that is… until he slumped to the floor, a large purple bruise forming on the side of his forehead.

"OH MY-! You killed my yami!" Ryou exclaimed, rushing over. A loud –albeit pathetic- whine came from the older man as he sat up, "WOMAN! What did you do to your pillow? Stuff it with rocks?" he bellowed as he rubbed his forehead.

Ryou reached over and picked up her pillow and reached inside. Sure enough, two pebbles came to view. "I think she did..." he said, his voice awkward and unsure.

Belle shrugged, "Sorry… I wasn't actually planning to attack somebody with it when I hid them there" she explained.

The twin boys' eyes met, "Why did you hide rocks in your cushion?" they asked, almost simultaneously.

"They're pretty, aren't they?" she answered simply with a shrug, "…Shiny things aren't safe around Marik".

They nodded in agreement.
