A/N: Just an extremely short, almost all dialogue, 390 word drabble I thought up while bored about Lily not believing she belongs at Hogwarts as a first year.

Not my best work, of course, but it's something. Enjoy!

Disclaimer: I own nothing but the written text. Did you really think I would be here otherwise?

"I don't belong here."

"What ever are you talking about, Miss Evans? You are a witch, of course you belong here. Hogwarts is a School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, after all."

"Professor, please... May I just speak to the Headmaster? I do not wish to stay here..."

"Miss Evans, take a seat."

"But, Professor-"

"Sit. Thank you. Now, if you will, would you please tell me the meaning of this nonsense?"

"W-well- uh- you see... My parents aren't magical. No one in my family is magical... It makes absolutely no sense for me to be magical. Besides, I am horrible at magic! I-I'm just a stupid... stupid... Mudblood! That's it! Just a stupid Mudblood."

"Miss Evans! I will not be tolerating that kind of language in my office!"

"Sorry, Professor..."

"Now, back to the matter at hand. Most wizards do not know this- whether they are purebloods, half-bloods, or Muggle-born- but all Muggle-born witches and wizards have some sort of magical heritage- most commonly a Squib in the family. Though, of course, there are many other possibilities out there, but I will not bore you with those today. Please understand that just because your parents are Muggles does not mean that you do not have wizard blood running through your veins, or that you are not a true witch- no matter what anyone else may tell you.

"Moving on, as far as I am concerned, you are not horrible at magical. In fact, I have heard that you especially exceed in Potions and that you are far better than many purebloods in that class. You are a powerful witch, Miss Evans, and you simply have to lean to control your power. You are merely a first year, and you still have about six more years to learn about your magic. Do not doubt your magical abilities, for you are a bright, young Gryffindor girl. I expect great things from you one day. Do not disappoint me."

"I won't, Professor McGonagall, I promise. I-I just want to say thanks.. You've really helped me!"

And with that, young, 11-year-old Lily Evans walked out of the Transfiguration Professor's office with a new spring in her step. Unfortunately, neither of them had any idea of the darkness to come and just how important the young girls' role in the upcoming war would truly be.
