Three Little Words
Severus wasn't to leave. Sirius won't let him. Marauder era, SSSB

The look on Severus face terrified Sirius. Never had he seen him so hurt or angry.
He had no idea what had caused it, but he was fairly certain it had something to do with him.
"We're through," Severus whispered, tears threatening to fall. Then he turned and walked away.
"Wh-what," Sirius asked, unsure if he was loud enough to be heard. "Why?"
"Why do you think!?" he exclaimed, turning back to him. "You think you can get away with it. I'm not stupid. No. I was stupid. I was stupid for thinking you had changed."
"I'm sorry!" Sirius shouted after a moment. It made perfect sense. He had every right to leave. That didn't make it hurt any less.
"Sorry isn't going to cut it this time. You said things were different, but when you're around them, you treat me exactly the same as you always did. I'm sick of it. You are ashamed of me and I'm not going to put up with it anymore. We are through."
Sirius could see in his eyes that this wasn't what he wanted. But at the same time, he was almost... relieved.
Lily was right. Sirius would never admit it, but she was always right. He hated her for that.
"Fine," Sirius says.
"Fine? Fine what?"
"I'll tell them. Tomorrow morning."
"No you won't. You say you will, but you'll chicken out. Admit it; you're terrified of how they'll react."
"I am. Absolutely. But I--" Sirius isn't sure how to say it, but he knows he has to. He can't loose him.
"You what?" he was growing impatient.
'Spit it out,' Sirius tells himself.
"I love you," he finally says. He knows what comes next. Severus going to laugh in his face. Because he couldn't possibly feel the same.
"What?" he said, barely above a whisper.
"I love you," he repeats. "And if you really want to leave, go right ahead, but I'm not going to give up on us that easy."
