Shadow the Hedgehog walked through a pair of barred gates, and wandered around a flowered graveyard. He noticed some people gathered at a tombstone, placing flowers in front of them. He continued onward as his head hung a bit, hiding his face behind his coat.
He finally came across a gray headstone with a small angel on top, her wings slightly wrapped around herself. Roses and lillies were spread across, a few petals missing on a few. He grabbed a rose from his coat pocket, and placed it down on the wet grass.
He sighed, "Hey. It's been awhile since I've been here. I've been booked with G.U.N. missions lately..." He lowered his eyes to stare at the gorund.
He continued talking, "Everyone misses you. And...I'll admit; I do, too."
Shadow panted heavily as the giant robot headed his way. Eggman laughed evilly as it pointed its gun at him. Shadow was too weak to use Chaos Control now, and he could barely stand. The gun lit brightly, and a shot was heard as the whole room went white. Shielding his eyes as he was consumed, he knew he was dead.
But, he wasn't.
How did it happen?
Shadow opened his eyes as the light went away, to see a familiar figure standing over him, protecting him from the gunshot. As the light vanished, the sight was more clear. Blood dripped from the body as Shadow's eyes widened with shock...
"Sonic!"
Sonic's green eyes met his ruby ones as he groaned, "Shadow, are you okay?"
The hedgehog's heart couldn't beat any faster. It was Sonic who saved him...
"Sonic," He stammered, "Wh-Why?"
Sonic turned back around as he explained simply, "Repayment. This is for all those times you saved me." He paused.
"Now, it's my time to save you."
He coughed, "I guess...this is good-bye."
"Sonic," Shadow cried, "No...!"
He turned to him once more. "I'll miss you..."
"No!"
With his last breath, the blue hedgehog whispered, "Good-bye, Shadow the Hedgehog..."
Using the last amount of his strength, he gave him a thumbs-up, and collapsed.
Shadow's vision suddenly began to blur, and he fainted at Sonic's side...
Shadow fell to his knees, tears falling to the ground.
"Why, faker?!" He screamed. The whole graveyard echoed with his voice as he cried softly.
Why? He thought, Why did you do that? You...risked your life...to save me.
He tried to gather himself for a moment. I could've saved you...
You...You didn't have to...
More tears began to stream down his cheeks.
We could have fought together...Protect each other...
He covered his face with his hand as he sobbed.
But, I was too late.
He thought for the final time...
I'm so sorry...
On the headstone, with the angel on top it read this:

1991-2008
Loyal Friend and Hero
Wow. Awesome, eh? Yeah, I know the ending was expecting, but I wanted a little more saddness in it!
